It does help. We don't have the consistency. We don't have that guy who can step onto the ice and for sure make a play. We haven't since Bure. Huby is a passer. I can see Kessel and Bjugstad on a line. Just imagine that.

Bjudstad makes me jealous he's not on the Habs. So jealous.

How (frank)ing dare anyone out there make fun of the Flyer's defense after all they been through.!

MacDonald lost his grandmother, Coburn broke his knee. Timonen had two (frank)in blood clots.

Streit's husband turned out to be a user, a cheater, and now he's going through a custody battle. All you people care about is….. readers and making money off of him.

THEY'RE HUMANS! (ah! ooh!) What you don’t realize is that the Flyers defense is making you all this money and all you do is write a bunch of crap about them.

They haven't performed on ice in years. Their song is called “give me more” for a reason because all you people want is MORE! MORE-MORE, MORE: MORE!.

LEAVE THE FLYER'S DEFENSE ALONE! You are lucky they even performed for you BASTARDS!
LEAVE THE FLYER'S DEFENSE ALONE!…..Please.

Jeremy Roenick talked about professionalism and said if the Flyer's defense were professional they would’ve pulled it off no matter what.

Speaking of professionalism, when is it professional to publicly bash someone who is going through a hard time.

Leave the Flyer's defense Alone Please…. !
Leave the Flyer's defense alone!…right now!….I mean it.!

Anyone that has a problem with her you deal with me, because they are not well right now.

LEAVE THEM ALONE!

I agree that even though "leadership" isn't wuantifiable it's still invaluable under certain a circumstances. I just think the panthers already have a couple rough D contracts in Campbell and Mitchell. Just hard to think they would want to add another. Imo. Maybe in the inner circles guys like robidas are worth more.
- SmielmaN

I've been really impressed with Robidas' poise with the media during this terrible stretch of hockey; he has stepped up and is easily observable as a team leader in the dressing room. Not easy to face the throng of media every day answering about why the Leafs are so bad...young guys like Kulikov and Gudbrandson and Ekblad can learn a lot about being a pro from him. If the Leafs were 2-3 years into a re-build with that calibre of defense he'd be an ideal acquisition (not at $3 x 3, but you get my point).

He's fantastic and our #1 center for a long time. He just signed a 6 yr deal... but, again, he's on a line with Jimmy Hayes and Jussi Jokinen. Now Hayes has 17 goals, but like Bjugstad he's cooled off.

The best part of that is Bobby Ryan picks up the other guy's stick after getting his grabbed away and then scores with it, you REALLY can't teach that...

I think that this may be a very good start for a deal but I think that the leafs need to put more into the deal.

Realistically the deal would need to look something like:

To FLA: Kessel, Robidas, Van Riemsdyk (can FLA handle the $$? Maybe Toronto retains 2Mill of Kessels contract for first 2 years?)

To Toronto: Huberdeau, 2015 1st round Pick, Bergenheim, Brandon Pirri

Florida would be getting 2 big time forwards that can get 70+point season on a good team no problem and a depth Defencemen to help they're younger D and push for a playoff spot. Everyone Keep in mind that Florida needs to start making playoff appearances and start winning NOW. They have a really hard time filling the seats at they're home games and a huge deal like this would only help.

Toronto is going into a re-build and what a great way to start by acquiring a potential first line centre in Huberdeau, a 2015 1st round pick in a DEEP draft and a player in Brandon Pirri that could be a good solid 3rd line guy down the road. Sean Bergenheim will finish the season with Toronto and then likely hit the free agent market and sign somewhere else.

For everyone that thinks Toronto is giving up too much, trust me this is a deal Toronto fans should take and run. With Kessel and JVR out of the lineup and possibly Lupul, Phaneuf(in the summer) and others departing the leafs will be finishing in the bottom almost for sure for the next 2 years thus giving them the elite players that teams need to build around. This is how a cup-contending team is built! Start bringing in pieces that WANT to be here and WANT to compete for that amazing Maple leafs logo on they're chest. It means a lot to be a Maple Leaf and it is a privilege to be apart of this franchise!

Leaf fans imagine these pieces that we can build around in the future:

Morgan Reilly, Jon Huberdeau, William Nylander, Stuart Pery, Matt Finn, Josh Leivo, Connor Brown, Andreas Johnson, Brendan Leipsic, Rinat Valiev, Dominic Toninato, Maybe Jake Gardiner?... These are some really good pieces that we can start to build around. In 2-3 years these players will have come a LONG way.

Now we get the the 2015 draft: if we end up with the 5th pick we have the chance to add an elite prospect in Dylan Strome, Mitchell Marner or Ivan Provorov, maybe Noah Hanifin?

If we make the trade with Florida and end up with a pick around 15-18 then we have a chance to draft a guy like Matt Barzal, and wow this kid looks like he is going to be something special.

We also have Nashvilles first round pick, which depending on how they do in the playoffs could realistically be a 20-25th pick in the draft... If I were the leafs I would look to add the top goalie in the draft named Mackenzie Blackwood(6'4 210 pounds already) from the Barrie Colts of the OHL. Give this kid 3-4 years to develop and he has elite goaltender written all over him.(Sorry fellow leaf fans but Bernier is just to small and this year has given up a lot of bad goals. He is a decent goalie but not one that is going to throw you on his back and steal you games in the playoffs.)

This is just the first round of the 2015 draft Leaf Fans!!! We have at least 2 more years of this to be excited for(In 2016 Austin Matthews and 2017 Nolan Patrick will be Franchise players). Don't be disappointed. Yes, it sucks that we need to watch them lose for 2-3 more years but after that we are going to be on the track to being a CUP CONTENDER, yes a cup contender. To build a cup contender you have to do it right and build out of the draft. Let the rebuild begin...Finally!!
