Yeah the trade he posted was nuts. Barkov won't go anywhere. - Panthers88
I agree, Barkov won't go anywhere. |

To Toronto:
Burmistov, Petan and Winnipeg's first round pick.
To Winnipeg:
Phil Kessel.
Get it done Chevy, get it done! |

Honestly I do not want Robidas... but if it's Kessel an Polak for Huberdeau/Bergy/another dump/1st rd pick.... I think I do it. I wouldn't want to toss in Trocheck, that is giving way too muc.=h. - Panthers88
If you want Polak instead of Robidas, then Florida is including Trochek. I'd also prefer someone younger like Gudbranson instead of Bergenheim.
To FLA:
Kessel
Polak
2015 3rd
To TOR:
Huberdeau
Gudbranson
Trochek
2015 1st |

take Barkov out and they might listen... - Xizord
Why would Toronto do the deal then? Kulikov is a throw in, I don't get how he all of a sudden has all this trade value. Last year they were literally begging for teams to take him off their hands. Kessel alone is worth a 1st, a roster player and a prospect. The Kessel and JvR thing is far fetched to begin with. I really don't think the Panthers and the Leafs match up well for a trade to begin with. Most of the Panthers desirable pieces in a trade are at the NHL level, they don't want to part with them either. The remaining Panthers prospects aren't the caliber that it would take to pull off a blockbuster type trade. |

Well the point of Bergenheim is to dump salary. Gudbranson won't be included in anything I don't think. |

Have you looked at our prospects?
But the Kessel/JVR trade is ridiculous. Would never happen. Kulikov has improved his game ten-fold this season. I was one of the guys last year who was begging Tallon to trade him. He has completely turned around. But, still, not close to getting the deal done. |

Gudbranson should not be traded at all.. You could probably unload Kulikov but Leafs don't really need him.. I think the Huberdeau/Bergenheim and a 1st in 2015 for Kessel is a good trade for both teams. |

So let me get this straight. We're trading Kessel, who by himself will get you at least Huberdeau and your 1st round pick, and then adding Van Riemsdyk and Robidas for a salary dump in Bergenheim and a Brandon Pirri who by your own admisssion is a future 3rd liner. Plus we're retaining salary on Kessel's deal???
Right, let's jump all over this one!
If you want Kessel and Van Riemsdyk this is the only way it will happen:
Huberdeau
Barkov
Kulikov
1st - H8terade
Man you have to understand that Kessel and JVR are what they are...they don't compete. Kessel has way too much $$ and JVR has been INVISIBLE for the last 30 games. These american players have no character. Based on how they've played the last 30 games they don't even bring back a first round pick...Barkov is going to be a flat out top 10 STAR in the nhl in a couple years, him alone would be worth kessel and JVR... |
|
|
|
From all I've been reading elsewhere, Bergenheim has value and will be traded somewhere else for a mid round pick.
I'm not sure it makes sense to include him.
I doubt JVR could be included without another significant asset from Florida. Good player, great value. Bozak might make sense (FO%, PK, surprisingly good in shootouts, Kessel's common law partner), but would need to take back salary.

Bolland to Toronto is a few steps backwards.
Taking on short term money is a given, but $5.5M until 2019 can't happen. |

I think that this may be a very good start for a deal but I think that the leafs need to put more into the deal.
Realistically the deal would need to look something like:
To FLA: Kessel, Robidas, Van Riemsdyk (can FLA handle the $$? Maybe Toronto retains 2Mill of Kessels contract for first 2 years?)
To Toronto: Huberdeau, 2015 1st round Pick, Bergenheim, Brandon Pirri
Florida would be getting 2 big time forwards that can get 70+point season on a good team no problem and a depth Defencemen to help they're younger D and push for a playoff spot. Everyone Keep in mind that Florida needs to start making playoff appearances and start winning NOW. They have a really hard time filling the seats at they're home games and a huge deal like this would only help.
Toronto is going into a re-build and what a great way to start by acquiring a potential first line centre in Huberdeau, a 2015 1st round pick in a DEEP draft and a player in Brandon Pirri that could be a good solid 3rd line guy down the road. Sean Bergenheim will finish the season with Toronto and then likely hit the free agent market and sign somewhere else.
For everyone that thinks Toronto is giving up too much, trust me this is a deal Toronto fans should take and run. With Kessel and JVR out of the lineup and possibly Lupul, Phaneuf(in the summer) and others departing the leafs will be finishing in the bottom almost for sure for the next 2 years thus giving them the elite players that teams need to build around. This is how a cup-contending team is built! Start bringing in pieces that WANT to be here and WANT to compete for that amazing Maple leafs logo on they're chest. It means a lot to be a Maple Leaf and it is a privilege to be apart of this franchise!
Leaf fans imagine these pieces that we can build around in the future:
Morgan Reilly, Jon Huberdeau, William Nylander, Stuart Pery, Matt Finn, Josh Leivo, Connor Brown, Andreas Johnson, Brendan Leipsic, Rinat Valiev, Dominic Toninato, Maybe Jake Gardiner?... These are some really good pieces that we can start to build around. In 2-3 years these players will have come a LONG way.
Now we get the the 2015 draft: if we end up with the 5th pick we have the chance to add an elite prospect in Dylan Strome, Mitchell Marner or Ivan Provorov, maybe Noah Hanifin?
If we make the trade with Florida and end up with a pick around 15-18 then we have a chance to draft a guy like Matt Barzal, and wow this kid looks like he is going to be something special.
We also have Nashvilles first round pick, which depending on how they do in the playoffs could realistically be a 20-25th pick in the draft... If I were the leafs I would look to add the top goalie in the draft named Mackenzie Blackwood(6'4 210 pounds already) from the Barrie Colts of the OHL. Give this kid 3-4 years to develop and he has elite goaltender written all over him.(Sorry fellow leaf fans but Bernier is just to small and this year has given up a lot of bad goals. He is a decent goalie but not one that is going to throw you on his back and steal you games in the playoffs.)
This is just the first round of the 2015 draft Leaf Fans!!! We have at least 2 more years of this to be excited for(In 2016 Austin Matthews and 2017 Nolan Patrick will be Franchise players). Don't be disappointed. Yes, it sucks that we need to watch them lose for 2-3 more years but after that we are going to be on the track to being a CUP CONTENDER, yes a cup contender. To build a cup contender you have to do it right and build out of the draft. Let the rebuild begin...Finally!! - Pleiadian4
I audibly said "Nope" when I looked at how long this was. |
