JJ, how does this happen on a 2 time Stanley Cup champion, with great veteran locker room leadership in #81, #2, and #7? On top of that, your captain is a great, lunchbucket player. Your best player has turned from party kid to better professional. What am I missing? Has winning gotten the best of them? Salary jealousy? Not enough credit to go around? I don't get it.

Why couldn't it happen...Chicago Bulls...Jordan...perhaps the greatest basketball player of all time....throwing punches at Kerr, Perdue...overall being a Richard....

That would be the equivalent of Toews smacking around a few players on his team...not saying he did anything or would ever do anything, but just saying, it happens even on Championship teams with great veteran leadership

jj...you make many great points...in particular the over pay of current rostered players and the unwillingness to part with certain "core" players to improve in other areas for example like the addition of a carter or kesler.

but i disagree going out now to bag rentals is vermette and/or petry is a big mistake...

who on the current roster goes and what else do they give to have these guys for 6-8 weeks...he can't afford them next year

My guess: money, immaturity, agents, women, alcohol.

Maybe not in that particular order

I see a lack of effort from the team when Crawford is playing maybe some of the defensive lapses and bad decisions are done purposefully to try and force managements hand to move Crawford. This team wasn't really in danger of missing the playoffs so a bad month of hockey really wasnt going to cost them anything. I see sharp sticking up for his teammates so that would kind of take him out of the discussion as the problem, if he is a problem why stick up for the guys who don't want you around? The whole concert thing still bothers me you are the starting goalie on a Stanley cup favorite team how about you have some control and not get so drunk you cant walk?
- Sober-Kaner

I think you're on to something here as far as #50 goes. The Hawks FO put him out to dry when "the fall" happened which is unlike them (they didn't even do that to Kane on numerous occasions). The Darling extension came out of left field as well. Maybe there's more to this.

I think a lot of pro athletes have more of a Type-A personality--everyone wants to be THE man, you know. Everyone wants to be top dog.

But hey, like Flair said: "To be the man, you gotta' beat the man...WOO!"

- Hank3Henshaw

Yes but pro athletes are, for the most part, realists. Anyone on the Hawks knows #19 and #88 are going to get the headlines but without everyone else doing their job, the team suffers and goes nowhere.

I'd keep Seabs on this team for his entire career...and I don't think the Hawks will deal him while he is in his prime...He is the only big d man they have, and he is that good too...Plus, the Bowman mantra, of surrounding your goalie with as many good d men as possible, even if it has to be at the expense of one of your really good forwards like Sharp perhaps

you cant be serious about this...teammates sandbagging to lose games to make a statement about another team mate.....

whatever conspiracy theories you want to throw out there...pathetic to even suggest such nonsence...

I like Crow a lot....but if he is causing trouble I wouldn't mind shipping him out of here, and going with a less expensive option...Only because you could use his cap hit to get a nice d man, and maybe even resign Oduya and have him on your third pair with TVR or something along those lines

Has to be about someone's gal/girlfriend/wife/sister/mom etc. Nothing divides a locker room like it. I remember Jim Jackson and Jackson Kidd fighting over Jennifer Lopez back in the early 90s. They HATED each other over it. I seem to remember Mashburn involved somehow too.

This thought of the Hawks being sellers is a bit ridiculous.

Yes, the loss of Kane seriously hurts their Cup chances, but even without him the Hawks are not Buffalo or Edmonton. Only a colossal collapse will leave them short of the playoffs, and they are too deep and skilled, even without Kane to miss the playoffs.

Lets not forget that as a franchise a lot of $$ comes in during playoff time. Even as constructed, the Hawks could be competitive and even win a round or two, and that alone is enough reason to keep the club from a fire sale and being "sellers".

Kane can't be replaced, but the correct piece or two added to the roster gives them just as good a chance as others in the conference.

If there is any truth to the rumor about "problem player" in the locker room it has to be someone from the "core" Keith?, Seabrook?, Toews?, Kane?, Crawford? and management is hesitant to pull the trigger. If its someone else he would on the train next day. Sharp is easy target here, but I dont think he is that special at this point to cause all rumored problems and still be sticking around, he would be long gone.

if crow is having a drinking problem or involved with the wife a member of the team's staff that could really change the way people feel about him. If they are not comfortable with him in the locker room who knows what can happen. Being betrayed by a teammate can do a lot to a group.

Friends fight, brothers fight, emotions run high in a locker room especially with guys you spend a WHOLE LOT of hours with during a season.

It may be nothing, it may be something, until you have specifics it's not worth speculation.
