On the upswing for sure. BUt definitely pretenders when it comes to being a cup threat.
- Vark37

Not sure anyone - even those in Florida - consider the Panthers a cup threat.

There's a difference between making the post-season, and making a threat.

True, but in order to get one, you have to start with the other.

Bernstein is on the score right now saying Bowman wants to move Sharp because of conflict.

BERNSTEIN? He's a schmuck; knows nothing about hockey. Reminds me of this decades' Jay Mariotti.

I'm a spectator only when it comes to energy... The general impression was/is the Saudis are trying to undermine the US/Canadian fracking industry - they want to eliminate the small and mid size frackers (particularly in the US). There was a major drop off in new well permits in the US late last year as a result of the Saudi increases in production but there have also been some conflicting signals out of the Saudis about future oversupply plans though some have now acknowledged the target was fracking and not Russia or Iran.

As always many differing opinions but the ones I respect the most (and we pay for their research) believe the trend back up will continue slowly. Of course, there are always chances of spikes based on beta events. If the oil trend is up then the loonie should trend upwards as well. Most believe Canada has sound fiscal policy with Harper as PM so you have more of a direct correlation from oil to the loonie. That means the Canadian drag on the cap may actually turn into possible stimulus in 2016 if oil/gas pricing continues higher. Of course, the cap doesn't just depend on Canada. Assuming the economic cycle is upwards in both the US and Canada - and it looks to be - then you could see larger increases in the cap starting in 16.

The Saudis are going for market share. The real question is how much output capacity there is at the lower extraction costs in relation to market demand. If there's not enough, then yes, oil's reascent will continue. Wherever the expensive extraction costs are, I don't think the Saudis believe they have anything at risk by alienation of such places.

Keep in mind that there are possible influences on the demand side, also. China is slowing down, and Europe now has deflation. And slowly but surely, alternative energy is making gains in the marketplace. This could be part of why the Saudis would jump the gun and turn it into a market share game.

I'm assuming that nothing would go through until late Friday, even if a deal is done, with the back to back?

Hey have to at least get their feet wet in the playoffs and get that experience. Much too young and inexperienced to win a Cup this year but getting in would be a good start and learning experience for a young team.

So that was a really good write up.

I am still of the opinion that without Patrick Kane, this group cannot and will not get past STL barring a meltdown of epic proportions.

Obviously the D needs to get sorted out first. Having an option for the second pairing going into next year that is a proven NHL player would be neat.

Basically, if Sharp can get them value today then they should unload. Same goes for Bickell. This group ought to know that the team as it stands can't win a Cup and they need to position themselves for a rebuild asap. If they can get defensive help, then maybe you can justify taking a chance on Kane having Wolverine healing powers like TVR and coming back in time to make an impact.

Moving forward with this group, as it is, would show massive incompetence. I think they need to either give up and hope for some luck or go all in. This wishy washy middle of the road crap isn't going to cut it in regards to both this year and next year.

Agree completely. Stan has to be a buyer or a seller. Standing pat and doing nothing would be incompetence.

THis is definitely what it is. Saudis don't want to lose any market share as they have in the past.

So they're keeping supply high, prices low, pushing frackers out of the market, making oil more preferable an energy choice (vs. alternative)—then they jack prices into the stratosphere?

IF the US called their own shots and would quit phucking around, none of this crap about 9 time zones ahead [of CT] would matter a damned bit.

Because they asked him who he thinks, not who he knows. It was a guess.
