Abbott is a highly-skilled forward with great vision. He is known for his playmaking ability and technical skills but his lack of size and bulk present a challenge at the highest level. He is a huge asset on the powerplay and isn’t afraid of going into the dirty areas.

Abbott attended camp with the Leafs before being assigned to the AHL's Marlies at the start of the 2014-15 season. Now in his third pro season, he continues to be an effective playmaker at the AHL level but has not seen any time at the NHL level. Jagr still has a lot of value. Sure, he's old, lost some speed, but that guy is unreal when it comes to possession and setting guys up. He can hang on and protect the puck so well.
