Yeah, I know he'll likely never play again, just kind of sucks for him in general.

TOR is more likely to get to the cap to get the full benefit of the LTIR than CBJ though so that's probably why they made the deal. Clarkson's bad contract off, LTIR Horton instead.

- L_B_R

If this is the case....then it makes sense for both teams....

hopefully Clarkson can re-ignite himself in a smaller market and the larger market Leafs can afford to pay someone who will never play, just to get the cap relief....

Excellent explain. Thx .

And per Kuc ....

#Blackhawks have upped ante in trade targets. Looking at players on level of Jeff Skinner and Mike Cammalleri. That type of player.

Like i said, compared to market prices right now

Bowman offered a 2nd for Rundblad FFS!

- FourFeathers773

Last years draft isn't even close to as talented or deep so this years draft. That 2nd round pick equivilates to at best a 4th this year (if I understood wiz' stereo system this year).

Clarkson trade shows how difficult it is to move a big salary player who underperforms.

It's a mispelling of equivalates which is third-person present form of equivalate (to equate).

SKIIILLLLLEEEE with Kopitar still on the draft table! OUCH!!!

But we may not have Kaner Philly would

- Joe-snoopy-Cool

And if the FO got their way with DT in 2006, the 'Hawks would have Kessel and no cups.

Here's bottom line on Clarkson-Horton trade: Horton's contract wasn't insured. CBJ paying him to sit in stands and he's longshot to play.

Leafs are stripping it down to the studs and they have the money to trade a contract and get an ugly one back for a player that is never going to play in the NHL again.

The level of Skinner vs Cammalleri are extremely different lol.

I'd love Skinner. CAR would be idiots to trade him though.

- L_B_R

Skinner has missed some significant time to concussions, if I'm not mistaken? If that is the case, I say pass on him.

Teams can only insure 6 contracts. I'm shocked Horton's wasn't.

SHanahan obviously hated the sight of Clarkson.

Yeah, he's missed about a month in 2011-12, a couple of weeks in 2013, and then about a week into this season iirc. He's pretty good at avoiding hits in general, but then when it happens, it always seems to be his head.

He's not producing at his normal pace this year either, but he's still almost a .7 PPG player on a bad team. I also just like how he plays.

Correct. Pretty sure he's had at least two. I almost think I'd pass on him either way though. He's tremendously talented don't get me wrong but he's basically Kane Lite or TT 2-3 years from now. Hard to say no to adding an All Star caliber talent (when healthy) but also easy to say no when you're already a relatively undersized team as it is.
