Talk on the NHL Network now is the price for Jeff Petry is a 2nd round pick and that may be too steep for the Red Wings.

why the hell arent we paying that right now anyway?

Sekera just went for a good prospect and a 1st

a 2nd for petry would be a steal at these prices for rentals lately

- FourFeathers773

Poetry is a Michigan kid, who I believe went to Michigan State. Also, pretty sure his father is Dan Petry, a damn good starting pitcher for the Tigers behind Jack Morris back in the day. You can certainly see how he'd fit in Detroit.

Looking at cap hits, Cammarelli is signed through 2019 at 5 mil per. Skinner same year 5.75. Neither a rental. What is going on..... As for Saad, if he were one of the pieces and BOTH players were to come here, I would seriously consider it.
- sgt1480

I don't think Saad is going anywhere. If they wouldn't trade him for Kesler this Summer I don't see him going anywhere now. If the Hawks are seriously looking at these guys (concussions aside, I really like Skinner) it means someone with some big paper will be shipped out (#10,#29).

NHL network just flashed this on their ticker:

"Patrick Sharp 0 goals in last 13 games"

But hey, he should replace Kane's production no problem...

This is weak. I go to a two hour meeting and you guys still haven't hit 40 pages. C'mon! You're better than that!
- MNHawk

We are trying to not pressure on Stanbo right now while he is thinking

Reasoning is he will get scared the closer we get to 45 pages and say no

Clarkson's contract was so bad that the Leafs could not even buy it out - too many bonus clauses and other details that no way another team would trade it for a live skating body. Will probably find out that the Loafs are retaining part of the salary.

Who's up next - Kessel, Dion, JVR, Lupul?

Any of them are available for Stanley.

- RickJ

Well I would think Dion is a goner this summer.

Not denying it either.

Most times, whether entirely true, these things usually have_some_basis_in_fact. We will never know the real story but hard to think there's not some fire where there is smoke.

It costs $$$ to correct big mistakes...

I believe it will cost Rock 12 more really big ones if he goes the route of Stalhberg

It sounds like Bowman is being aggressive which is good but really aside from 2012 which was the one year the Hawks had the cap space and failed to make a move at the deadline (as JJ said, they missed out on Jeff Carter) he really either has had his hands tied with cap space or there wasn't an urgent need to make a deal.

2010 - acquired Johnsson and Boyton for defensive depth (Leddy too)
2011 - had absolutely no cap space, was still able to fit Campoli
2012 - dropped the ball, plain and simple
2013 - Team was almost unbeatable, no real needs.
2014 - acquired Versteeg earlier in season, not a lot space at the deadline and team was still pretty damn good.

I think he goes out and gets a forward and d-man by Monday. Won't be surprised if something is announced after the game tonight.

Sorry, didn't copy the part where he literally said "No. Not at all." He then went on to say they laughed about it at lunch. I copied the part that I thought was most relevant for here lol.

There was literally one dude who reported it. Every other reporter linked to the Hawks said they heard nothing about it. I doubt doubt locker room fights are common enough, but there was no fire this time. And don't come back with Bernstein who repeats internet rumors like gospel often.

No poop.

What do people expect him to say? Why should he have to say anything?

If he denied it, I'm sure some people who've posted on the subject today would say, "Of course he denied it. That doesn't mean it didn't happen!"

He loses no matter what he says.

2012 - Bowman got Oduya for a 2nd & 3rd round picks. He also flipped John Scott to the Rangers for a 5th.

A quality D man for a second rounder and maybe another small piece????

If that is true, why is that deal not already done?

TSN just reported the Oilers are looking for a first. Quite frankly Petry isn't worth a first or a second.

If you're trying to compare Clarkson to Sharp, that's kind of silly imo. Clarkson has never reached the 50 point mark in his career and has had two seasons in a row of 25 points or less, only 11 last year. Sharp has had 5 50+ seasons, has a .89 PPG in his last two seasons, and is coming off a 78 point season. On top of that, Clarkson is signed for 5 more years while Sharp only has 2. They are not comparable.

If you're comparing to Bickell, then you have a more valid point, though the length of the contracts plus the difference in their post-season points suggest Bickell > Clarkson too.

- L_B_R

Here's what I think...
If you want to comment on something I wrote or said no problem. Or if you want to ask a question no problem. But if you want to discus hockey and have me respond don't assume because that's silly.

If you asked me to compare Sharp/Bickell to another player Clarkson wouldn't come to mind. That said they do have one thing in common albeit a matter of degree....They are all overpaid based on their current production.

If the rest of the world wants roster guys you need to keep or only your best prospects, its a deal given the situation. A #25 first rounder wont likely be an earth shaker, especially if what the FO brings back from the draft is snother 5-10 170 lb forward.

Someone always overpays for dmen in the summer but they probably will have to retain some of his salary.
