Who suggested any one player could replace Kane's production?
- paulr

Allow me rephrase: there is no one person on this roster, especially Patrick Sharp, who can replace the production. The Hawks need to add via trade.

TT on the 3rd line with Bickell and Shaw tonight (at least til the Q blender gets going)
- blackhawks30

Hawks 2nd line is pathetic when it comes to traffic in front of opposing net. You place TT with Richards and Sharp no one will go after the puck in middle of ice.

TSN just reported the Oilers are looking for a first. Quite frankly Petry isn't worth a first or a second.
- paulr

That's what will be the bait on upcoming UFA's as they have gone for 2nd/3rd rounders, so sellers will look to raise the anti.

To your point, I agree.

Well I would think Dion is a goner this summer.
- Al

Like I said, they are stripping it to the studs.

As a 3/4 Dman he's just fine - provided the Loafs pay half the salary.

Toronto just showed the Hawks how to open up cap space IF the Hawks are willing to eat dollars. Find someone like Horton who is injured and unlikely to come back trade a bad contract for him then put the injured player on LITR and voila you opened cap space. Question would be does Wirtz go for it?

....and Dion is another mistake....Paid like a true # 1 stud dman and in reality is more like a second pairing player on a very good team.

Here's what I think...
If you want to comment on something I wrote or said no problem. Or if you want to ask a question no problem. But if you want to discus hockey and have me respond don't assume because that's silly.

If you asked me to compare Sharp/Bickell to another player Clarkson wouldn't come to mind. That said they do have one thing in common albeit a matter of degree....They are all overpaid based on their current production.

- Al

Sorry, I was basing it on your past comments on the matter of Sharp/Bickell. Since you weren't obviously comparing them, I will apologize.

Still, for those that were, my point still stands that the degree is pretty large. Sharp having a down year could be indication that his production is going down down down, but Clarkson has never been on that level and his contract is hella long, so the situations are unequal in most ways. Bickell is Bickell - anyone trading for him is going to know they're getting him for the post-season or they've not been paying attention.

Offer TT for Petry. Oilers need more small forwards.

So do the Hawks get Petrovic to "account" for the Kane hit and who will it be that makes him "accountable"? I say yes and Carcillo.

Can a team keep up to half a cap hit and have a different salary amount retained?

Eg; Team A retains 100,000 cap hit and team B pays all salary?

OR Team A retains 100,000 cap hit and pays 100,000 in salary

Scratches: Carcillo, Oduya (hurt), Rozsival.

Simple explanation concerning Clarkson:

1) When he did post some decent point seasons with New Jersey, I think you would find Ilya Kovalchuk had something to do with it.

2) The Leafs have more money than brains, they pay Lexus prices for Ford Pintos. Any team with a real hockey man running things knew what Clarkson was all about.

For the record I was for Bowman resigning Bickel, as well as Sharp....AlthoughSharp was a hefty deal considering his age. But I understood why they did it.

A lot has been said about off ice BS concerning Sharp...And I won't go into that. But no matter if a player has a lily white reputation it isn't easy to deal a hefty contract, when you can't take back much money.

You brought up a valid point, maybe Sharps' production is tailing off, I think many more will assume so because of his age. He's getting older and the other factor is many of his goals the last two years have come on the PP....17 out of 44 and it won't help the % went up quite a bit so far this season.

Sharp and Bickell can be traded....Question is can they may be traded without retaining salary??

Move 'me to Quebec City or Toronto. This is pretty much the case for most of their games.

Are they still working on moving the Blues there?

Would need more donut shops for Hitch to dine in.
