Would rather see Higgins/Bonino/Richardson/Hansen/2nd to TO for Kadri/Kessel +
- LordHumungous

Yeah that's fair. Change your 2nd to a 4th and get the Leafs to retain 50% of Kessel's contract, then i think that's more than reasonable.

The retained salary kills it for me. We want it all or nothing at all. Quit haggling you (frank)

You're severely underrating Tanev if you think that first trade is a bad offer. Wow.
- Nucker101

Yeah I don't think you guys should be looking to move Tanev or Kassian. They are cornerstones to build around. They should be keepers.

Tanev + Kassian for Kadri is to you? Okay.
- Nucker101

AND Connor Brown!! and a 3rd!! I think it's fair. We have D depth (clearly)
Tanev is gonna want ALOT. we already have too much money tied up on D.

Kadri gives us a better 2nd line C option than Bonino or move one of them to wing. And Brown gives us solid RW depth that we don't really have past Virtanen.

TOR's 3rd is gonna be a top 5 probably so its practicaly a late 2nd

I dunno...i smoked ALOT of crack this morning...maybe i'm out of it...

If both Kadri and Tanev were UFA's this summer, they'd get similar contracts.

I don't think the Leafs would trade Connor Brown. Heading into a rebuild I'd imagine he would be one of the last guys they consider moving. Whether or not he pans out, most likely not, I don't see them moving him.

Losing Tanev guts our defensive depth, in exchange for a centre who doesn't fill the long term need of 1C and as of right now we have an abundance of centres. Connor Brown may never be better than Kassian is already, and they play the same position, so we don't add any depth on RW. At best that is a lateral move. So basically we are clogging up the middle and decimating our blueline in exchange for a high 3rd
Edit: More simply put, we are not in a position to move youth, and neither is Tornoto, so this trade makes sense for neither team

That I would agree with. And I'd imagine they plan on adding picks, not trading them(which must be hard for Nonis given his love of trading 2nd and 3rd rounders for poop ).

Jordan Subban:

“From my understanding, I believe it(the contract) will get done. During the season I don’t like to be involved in that stuff, I let my agent handle it, and from talks with him, it sounds like it’s going to get done.”

No no no.

Willie offers size and physicality that Tanev doesn't (he used to anyways). He was big and strong enough to go up against big power forwards. He was an exceptional defensive defenceman.

Tanev is not exceptional.

- KB3Point0

First off, Tanev and Mitchell although both defensive are quite different. 2nd Mitchell was better in clutch and grab. Tanev compares to boumeester

We don't have a #2 center right now. Even if we did, an abundance of centers is the best problem to have, ask the Kings, it's worked well for them.

Kings also have a beastly back end
Edler Bieksa
Hamhuis Sbisa
Stanton Weber
Yikes.

I still don't understand why it matters how the player stops the other team from scoring, isn't the bottom line all that matters. Willie wasn't even close to a league leader in hits either, hell Sbisa is more physical than Willie. Willie actually relied on positioning and pokechecking quite a bit, like Tanev.

Tanev has simply been rock solid defensively against other top lines almost every night, the numbers don't lie.
