If Kessel gets dealt it happens in the offseason..... not many teams can take on an 8mil salary hit this time of year

That has to be the worst one I've heard.

Come on, Bieksa and Phaneuf on the same pairing?

That would be gold Jerry. Gold.

Even pro-rated? That's about $2.8m for the rest of the season. Doable for most.

Edit: Aren't cap hits pro-rated in trades late in the season? Or has that changed too?

the guy is a mental midget, can't play D, and has a huge cap hit.... but he's only 27 years old... still at least 4-6 more productive years in him even if he doesn't train much.

Horton will most likely be a buy out canadiate won't he? He makes less or less years then clarkson?

Leafs probably don't think he will ever play again. Like Pronger, just takes up cap space until the season starts, then LTIR. Got rid of the Clarkson mistake.

why buy him out... part of his salary would go against the cap. Just put him on LTIR and get 100% relief from his salary every year. The guy won't play again ever

Shanny must have made this one. If Nonis made alone, he would have retained at least 2/3rds of Clarksons salary

I just look at his numbers and think that's what the canucks need:

2009 - 36 24 60
2010 - 30 25 55
2011 - 32 32 64
2012 - 37 45 82
2013 - 20 32 52
2014 - 37 43 80

And this year 22 26 48 on that (frank)ing mess of a team. The boy can put up points consistantly.

While you're there, would you pray that Luongo gets injured and can't play again in a few years, so he doesn't retire early and stick the Canucks in cap hell?

I'd role the dice with him... you can put him on any line and you've solved your secondary scoring issue and his Right handed shot would fit well on the PP

wonder how desperate Toronto is to unload him

8mil is too much they need to retain some of that salary.

How good would Kessel look on the Preds? They have the defensive system and players to cover his lapses.
