Wrong. He said he felt trapped last year with the one year deal and would have liked longer term but they could not agree on the money. He hated signing the one year deal. But had no choice.

The team has been worse under him than it was before, he cant get a handle on his defense at all, cant get a handle on his goaltending at all, wasn't able to secure 4 centermen for the beginning of the year, tried to outbid Toronto for Clarkson, hired Eakins, fired Krueger via Skype, Nikitin, Belov, Larsen, Grebeshkov, bold moves never happened, and has taken no responsibility for his mistakes at all while being here.

One of those things he can get a free pass on. Not all of them.

Goaltending? MacT made moves for two goalies last season that satisfied many, including fans and expert analysts.

4 centermen? That is definitely a miss by MacT but he's at least made moves to try to fix it.

Clarkson was a very sought after commodity and the Oilers need players like Clarkson.

Eakins was a highly sought after head coach, he turned down multiple offers to sign with the Oilers and at the time seemed like MacT had made a shrewd move.

Nikitin has been flop and that is on MacT. Belov was the best KHL defenseman and MacT signed him for 1.5 million, kudos to MacT for that move. MacT moved Horcoff's sizeable contract for Larssen, another plus for MacT.

Jagr had a run towsrds middle-end of century. But these things are short lived for guys who aren't named crosby/Gretzky.

This doesn't even make sense. This team was garbage. He made a ton of changes. Most msm types say he's has been the hardest working man in hickey since becoming gm. If he didn't sign Nikitin and Fayne what other options? If he signed Petry and Shultz to the term and money they both were after he would have been crucified. Underperforming? Only by your standard.
