If he was paired with a solid guy and played softer comp second line minutes he would thrive. Currently the Oilers have him playing with Klefbom who has become arguably the best defenseman in Edmonton and Schultz is looking a lot better than at the start of the season.

Are you knocking a player for being used in the role that allows him to best succeed? Edler used to be a viable scoring option but I don't know why his totals have dropped recently.

I suggest you hold on to quality Dmen for dear life. Deal picks for D if you have to. if the game plan is sit on thumbs till they're a contender they're in for sh*t time

No argument on Nikitin. Stupid, short-sighted move that could've blown up in his face had Yakupov and/or Schultz (though he likely expected him to have a longer contract) had a breakout season.

There's no evidence that I'm aware that says MacT was the ONLY one who wanted the "prove it" contract by the end of negotiations. Who's to say if Petry didn't settle on that after not getting a 6 for 6 contract?

He attempted to sign both Roy and Jokinen in the summer but both refused. It was documented by a combination of LeBrun and McKenzie. Neither were great options, but it didn't help that Lander failed to take advantage of the lack of depth when he had the chance.

Marincin- much like Nikitin- was bad to start the season. Numbers-wise he looked okay, but he was making some pretty fundamental mistakes that MacT decided would be better if he worked those kinks out on the farm. In case you're forgetting, Nikitin has actually been pulling even possession-wise and wasn't looking too shabby in terms of offensive production, either.

Perron wanted out. Sure that's a by-product of the team sucking, but I doubt that was preventable.

Here's another oversight- which players are we supposed to be getting for these picks? Who was available that would A.) be worth a top-10 pick, B.) waive his NTC or NMC to come to Edmonton, and C.) not be on an expiring contract? That's the same goddam question every time this comes up and I have NEVER received an answer.
