What, what??? When did that happen??? - batjester
Don't let him get to free agency?
Like how do we do that?
We just signed petry at low dollars till he was 33 and neither him nor his agent noticed. Good work team!!! |

What do you think the chances are that Carl Soderberg would sign in Edmonton? I know that MacT won't try to sign him because he would help the team get better but.. - Dangles13
I'd love him to play 2C for a few years while we work Leon in on the wing with Lander and a FA signing I'd aim for $4mil for 3 years. |

A. Mact is waiting till the last minute to up the bidding war on petry with tons of interest.
B. Mact is waiting on a better offer as interest is low
C. Mact is still hoping to resign him - Ihateallofu

He would be perfect for the Oilers in my opinion. I suspect 4 mill would not do it though, especially to play in Edmonton as he had nearly 50 points last season. I could see him getting 5-5.5 on the open market. |

There's the rub. No one has shown any evidence or facts. If they could then I'd be happy to look at them. |

I was just talking in generalities and not the Petry issue. |

Aim for meaning as close to that as possible. I'd likely go as high as 5.2 for 3 years. He'd be gone in time to resign Nurse after his ELC and Klefbom after his bridge deal. Tough to say without knowing if the cap will increase and by how much. |

I don't think the interest is low at all. A lot of teams could use that dependable right shot dman for their cup run. Detroit, Tampa, Montreal, Chicago have all been rumoured. I wonder why the Islanders haven't gotten in on this too? I like them but I still don't think they're a contender and could use a right shot. Not that Petry is gonna be the difference between them winning or losing a cup but he'd help. |

I think there's interest. I just don't think many if any other teams think as highly of Petry as we do. |

I can't see him beating out Hamonic or Boychuk on the Islanders's right side. |

Agreed....but the Sekeras trade was an overpay by LA. MacT haters are licking their lips knowing Petry wont get that return and they;'ll have 1 more thing to spazz about. |

He doesn't need to. He can still play meaningful minutes. He can be used in any situation and injuries happen all the time. To go deep into the playoffs you need a lot of depth on D and I don't think they have it.

It seems those who weren't going to allow petry to get to free agency were also oblivious to these rule changes in kidnapping
You guys need to consult your criminal code more often |

We need the Isles to flame out early in the playoffs so Boychuk doesn't think they're all that close.
What would everyone offer him if he reaches free agency? |

Assuming we buyout Nikitin and move one of Ference or Purcell, I'd say 6 for 4. |

That's what I think the hold up is on a trade. We hold him in higher regard than other teams might. I have a feeling there are deals in place already but one side or the other is just afraid to pull the trigger right now. I think as the deadline draws closer someone will up the ante and maybe not give MacT an overpayment, but a deal that will be fair for both sides |
