NYR already offered 4M, he won't take that as a UFA. Especially in this weak class where he'll be one of the few top 6 guys who's not washed up.

Matthias scares me a bit too, if I knew we would get the same Matthias next year and beyond that we're getting this year then I'd be okay with giving him 3rd line money, which seems to be 2.5-3M per these days, and with him being a big guy it'll probably be around 3ish per.

When his last contract was up during the lockout-shortened season, he had 14 goals in 48 games then just 12 in 78 games the year after.

Higgins trade purely for a young guy to play hes a great third liner.
Sign Tanev or trade him for a young established top 6 might work well for both teams if corrado can be a 4 5 guy and with sbisa looking not terrifying anymore it might be a smart move

I wouldn't give him 3. He's a 3 rd line tweener. We have enough of those guys. Is he big yes. But if nonis shows us anything, its u pay a guy for what he is on a good team. Not what he is by default on your team
