If we play LA (if we even make the playoffs) we are done anyways...whats the best case scenario? We beat them. Then end up playing CHI or ANA or NASH? If you think we can hang with any of these teams regardless of any small moves we make you are wrong. We need to get rid of aging assets and try and do a quick turn around "refresh" before we end up in "rebuild" mode

This.

Too many questions still presisting and IMO I still believe that Benning is going to need to make a shrewd move by Monday to solidify us a PO spot.

We trade Higgins, for what? A pick?? Same goes with Kassian, what do we gain that will help the team in the playoffs? It would have happened already if any of these two make sense. The draft is a different story.

Agreed, would love a Kadri move so long as the price is reasonable.

With the fire sale in Toronto I'd call up Nonis and make an offer for JVR. I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I'd package Virtanen perhaps a goalie and a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him. Young, skilled, great contract and just entering his prime. Best case scenario Virtanen would hit JVR 's current ceiling.

This team still has too many holes to contend, trading one of our top prospects with a decent pick makes little sense. That LA team who won as an 8th seed had a stacked young core and underperformed during that regular season. The Canucks are meeting or exceeding expectations with this roster and even then aren't a top tier team.

I'm cool with making the playoffs, but unless Miller stands on his head and the Canucks get lucky I wouldn't get your hopes up.

He still has plenty with that great contract but the Canucks bought high on him.

Considering benning wouldn't offer up even one of them for Kane it's a little different I'd say... Hodgson there were like flags everywhere and not once do I remember hear gillis say he was untouchable... Where as benning has let it be known he has no intention of moving Horvat, virtanen or mcann... He had the chance to move and unknown asset for an established young goal scorer and wouldn't do it

We have great special teams and seem to beat quality teams. Horvat and Mathias are great adds and if miller steals a game or 2 in the playoffs I truly believe we are the team nobody wants to play

True, but to play devils advocate our current core is meeting or exceeding expectations. Adding a blue chip NHL top 6, 30 goal scorer who is 25 at the expense of a blue-chip CHL forward who's outcome is still to be determined (could very well end up being a Torres/Booth type) would in fact add to the team's chance of success.

Furthermore, L.A's stacked core wasn't simply achieved through drafting (Richards, Carter, Gaborik, Williams, Micthell* etc etc etc) but through trades and UFA signings.

These defeatist perspectives running rampant among Canucks fans about simply sucking for while in order win for awhile are unfounded and have actually only worked in a few, severely lucky cases. One size does not fit all.

I voted Kassian.
- Marwood

If they move Kassian I hope it'll be some sort of like-for-like with a young D coming back.

Anyone think NSH would do Kassian for Ryan Ellis?
