13th in goal differential
20th in 5v5 goal differential
15th in PP%
4TH in PK%
22th in scoring chances created per game
21st in scoring chance allowed per game

- Nucker101

I look at pp and pk and average them out puts us 8th to 9th in the league in special teams and that's how cups are won. We're not perfect obviously but this teams cares now and if we get a hot run from miller nobody will want to play us

Linden vey and corrado for Kadri? ??
- The_Kuze

I'm not a Kadri fan but I dare say TO will get way better offers than that.

LA would love to play VAN.

We would win they will under estimate us

If they move Kassian I hope it'll be some sort of like-for-like with a young D coming back.

Anyone think NSH would do Kassian for Ryan Ellis?

Too small.

I really don't see it happening, maybe they could somehow get lucky and upset 1 team, but to win more than 1 round you have play in a weaker conference(I'd say neither conference is really weak this year playoff-wise), or actually have a legit top 10 team that gets hot and stays relatively healthy.

If the team showed up like they did against the Bruins, then I think there is a chance. What I am a little worried about is if there isn't any trades and guys get healthy, who comes out of the lineup?

I'm not sure I'd be that optimistic however i would bet money on the series lasting longer then a mere four games and would in fact pay dividends towards the development of the younger guys on the roster.

That's why they always go full out and play us likes it's the playoffs during every regular season game. Their core of players legitimately has a hate for the Canucks, they'd probably push hard for a sweep just to embarrass the Canucks.

I'd say Kings in 5. 6 if Miller steals a game.

Only on paper.

He's offensively gifted in a way none of our D are. Plus he's averaged 19+ mins per game on one of the best teams in the league. At age 23 and with NSH's D that's impressive.

The Kings would sweep us. They are literally the worst team we could be matched against.

That's all well and good except there is 1 problem...Special teams don't win cups. Otherwise we would have won in '11.

They call NOTHING in the postseason. Alot of good a solid PP does you when you get 1 PP a game if you are lucky

5 vs 5 scoring wins cups, that AND stellar goaltending

We are grooming Subban to be our next vertically challenged D.

So what are you saying then?

No point in making the playoffs until the team can win the cup?
How do you determine when/how/why that will be possible?

If the cup was solely guaranteed to the best build team of any given year, be it through fancy stats, player stats etc etc etc no one would bother watching the (frank)ing playoffs if the outcome was "predetermined" by such factors.

Pound the Sedin's, crash into the net (by accident of course) and that's all she wrote. 4 Game broom job LA.

No one is moving. Just a hunch. Demands are too high right now. I don't see us a desperate to make a move. We are a bubble team right now.

Last year LA had the 9th best PK% in the postseason. Out of 16 teams thats not so great.

Nope, as I said above. I have no issues with making the playoffs just to get the young guys a taste of it. But again, I'd say a top 5 pick would help this team's rebuild/retool more so than a first round loss, but this team was/is too good for that so you might as well try to get the experience.

And it's not just fancy stats, you can even look at goal differentials, 5v5 scoring if you don't believe in the fancy stats like Corsi and scoring chance%'s. Teams that are top 10 in those fancy stat categories are the only ones who win cups(not necessarily the top one, but you have to be in the upper tier, the Canucks are not).

Not about winning the cup, advancing to the second round.

They need a taste of success. Teams like Edmonton have a huge issue of talent that has never had a taste of success. It is so important for development.

All that does is put money in Aquilini's pockets. Doesn't help us build a stronger team for the future

Yep, I'm still OK with us not making the playoff's. Just need another couple of games like last night.

It does. Don't let the dollars going into his pocket steer you away from the franchise having success. This team should they make the playoffs will surprise. #darkhorse
