I think this is how Murray is too. Will he maybe make some bad trades or signings? Sure. Every GM does though.
Remember how Garth Snow looked like a complete mess as a GM before this year? - HonkFortheGoose
aside from the vanek move, I think Garth got ripped way too much

if darcy pays Peca a little more instead of drawing a line in the sand, Hasek retires a Sabres
H4 - homiedclown
Didnt Calgary offer up Iginla for Peca?
I thought I heard that rumor. |

The Vanek move was bad in hindsight, but I get what he was trying to do. It didn't help that Tavares ended up getting hurt. |

This is where Murray if different from you. He doesn't care if you applaud him or praise him. If Murray was more like you, he would be telling everybody how the guys before him effed everything up and he had to come in and be the savior, because he is the best guy ever at doing his job and that's why people call him when they want the job done right. - adambuffalo

The point I would make is this... What other choice did Murray have? Keeping those players meant another year or 5 of mediocrity.... - rapperray
if Murray wants Neuvirth or Stewart, he can sign them in July

There's a risk there, though.
The thought process that because Moulson came back, just about anyone will is flawed. Neuvirth said he found out about the trade when it scrolled on the television while he was eating lunch. That doesn't say much about a goodwill gesture. That's not to say he wouldn't dismiss it either, but it's far from a guarantee if Murray wants either one of them. |

During that span, Neuvirth still was getting back into form from his injury. It was mostly Enroth during that time span. I'm not sure what value Neuvirth had before the deadline. It was only after Enroth was traded that Neuvirth became the best goaltender available. Could he have traded him one or two games earlier? Sure, but they lost the last game. The Sabres aren't in any better or worse shape because Neuvirth was traded. Stewart cooled down before he was traded. Both are non-issues. - buffalofan19

darcy never addressed the D
IMO he got way too much credit for inheriting Hasek and caught lightning in a bottle after the lock out
At no time, did I ever thing they had a special team
a few special players, but never a special team |

Mike Peca was traded for Connolly and Pyatt.
Connolly walked via UFA
Pyatt was traded for a 4th rd pick
The 4th rd pick was traded for 2 5ths.
Those 5ths were Jean-Simon Allard and Bradley Eidsness. - dadeadhead
Paints a bit of a bad picture for those who may only look at what Connolly GOT the Sabres. He also played there and produced for a long tim
Peca: 236 points in 464 for various other teams after leaving Buffalo
Connolly: 320 points in 464 games for Buffalo
(Forgive any errors if found, did the math in my head) |

I do not think Murray wants either, maybe Neuvirth
He knows the needs
a top winger
a top 4 d man
credible goalies
that will be his offseason goal |
