It's not that easy, you assume those guys will want to come back and that the other FA's will want to be here.

We will in all likelihood be closer to the 1st pick than the playoffs next year.

When I look at the cap, where they are now playing, and what term and salary they will be able to offer, along with the role they could have on the sabres, I dont think those moves are out of line.

And I still will think if they did all those moves, they wouldnt be a playoff team.....maybe finishing 10th-12th in the East with that lineup.

Yup, I think the only difference will be the talent level/experience will be higher and i think they'll mesh together quicker than the mismatched parts we had playing this year. Still some growing pains left though

Myers, a late 1st and 3 players that were not part of our future. For a capable 2nd pairing dman and a potential dominant foward. Too early to say. Give it some time. Kane has yet to play.

That other 1st rounder will be used for him in a package+ plus Murray said he had discussiouns with a few teams that have young backups for a possible future goalie for next year. Jones, Stalock, Rannta, Lack could be in that group.

except you thought his value was at best a 1st rounder and a 3rd line player. This deal is really only underwhelming if you think highly of myers which you never did.

I think much like how everyone had a distaste for Regier, your distaste for Murray and his philosophy on how to build a contender has given you blinders to the point where every move he makes, even the smallest ones, you put a negative twist on it.

the moves aren't out of line, but a scenario like that involves a lot of things going the right away. We could offer all of them top dollar and only 1 or 2 may sign. And this doesn't include what may or may not be available on the trade market. Even with McEichel it will still take some time before FA's will want to play for the sabres.

True, and he had to overpay to get WPG to make the deal before the deadline/Off season. If Murray waited their would have been more bidders.

He also said he's liked Kane and Bogosian for years now. He saw an opportunity to get both and overpaid to get it done IMO

That's why he was asked the same question but in different ways.
His smugness will be his demise, I just about guarantee it.
And to be fair his smugness he hasn't even earned.
His returns today and even on the Myers deal are very underwhelming.

What did he say that was smug? What was he supposed to do? Keep UFAs until the end of the season and get nothing for them because that would somehow be honorable? He didn't a great return because he didn't have anybody good to trade. These reporters are acting like he traded Moulson, Miller, and Ott and only got a 2nd, 5th, and 7th.

Just look at the deal as a whole.
That 1st is over payment IMO.
Forget Karsdof, that player will never see the ice for the Sabres.
Look at the rest of that trade.
Bogosian straight up for Myers is about right.
I didn't mind that part of it at all.
But, it took Stafford ,Armia, Lemieux and that 1st to attain an injured Kane?

Like I said, very underwhelming.
I don't like the deal for us at all.
Just my opinion.
