Could be a while before he can sign anywhere. Gonna depend on how BU does in the tournament and stuff. |

I just don't understand why there's a double standard. We're not doing anything any different than any of the other teams that have gotten high picks, so why it is a problem for us but not them? - HonkFortheGoose
Same reason as many other things. Our goalie got run the (frank) over. We go shorthanded 2 minutes. Yet we get mocked that we didn't defend our goalie. Hire John Scott, now were just a bunch of bullies. Better penalize John Scott for talking. Buffalo basically creates the Winter Classic, a now staple of the NHL season, but let's not let them play in it.

He's a Jr. This is his 3rd yAear there according to Hockeydb.com. - HonkFortheGoose
The league doesn't want McEichel here because they are rare and if used right can really grow the game which won't have that much of a return in a place like Buffalo because our market is set and stable no matter if we are winners or losers. Fan wise, every team that is not in the realistic running for McEichel is going to be mad at us, especially since we are clearly tanking. But the lack of anybody giving teams like Arizona grief about tanking it is a media thing, and they are probably taking their ques from the NHL themselves. McEichel will turn any franchise around like Crosby did. Arizona needs that and we don't because Pegulla stabled our team and we are no longer in financial trouble. |

It seemed that WGR figured it would be Schaller and D'Amigo, but could be Grigorenko instead of one of the 2. Though apparently his first game back since the knee injury was absolutely brutal. |

This is not true. Buffalo is not Toronto/Canada level of support. If we get truly demoralized, support will diminish. We were the hottest team out of the lockout in '05, but didn't start selling out games until about this time in '06. From 2002-2005 tickets were basically give away's in this town. People are only hanging on because they are being sold belief right now, and I believe they will be reawrded. |

It could be interesting if he does sign. I think he'd probably struggle at first. The speed of the NHL game alone would take some time getting used to. |

What Stewart brought in return is kind of like letting him walk, I think he waited to long on that one. - SABRES 89
If I was a GM, not sure I would have even given up a 2nd for him. He isn't cracking someone's top 6 on a playoff team IMO and I don't want him on my 3rd or 4th line. But that's just me. |

Any good tank team needs a player with an apostrophe in his name.
D'Agostini to D'Amigo.
These players will be good trivia 10 years from now |

This isn't necessarily Murray's fault but I think he waited too long on moving Stewart.
And if what 89 said is true that ANA previously offered a 4th for Meszaros and Murray decided to wait, and then got nothing then that kind of sucks - sbroads24
The Sabres are paying hallf of Mitchell's and Stewart's contracts, maybe they didn't want to take a 4th and probably have to pay another half. Plus he does help the tank. |

I like that TM said he'd made calls about young backups or 1a starters.
Sounds like we'll have our goalie this summer. |

I get your point B-S, but I think that those 05-06 teams helped usher in a new generation of Sabres fans. They will have no problem selling season tickets for years.

They couldn't have retained any more salary. They are already retaining part of Staff's too and you can only retain salary for 3 players |

I do think Neuvirth will be back, who else is in position to offer him a true opportunity to be the starter for the next 2 years...and he liked his time in Buffalo. Clearly, these guys are drinking the Nolan Kool-aid though with their departing comments/shots at the tank.
I'd like to see himback, anyone who can manage a .950 over 10 games on this team, I think deserves the opportunity. |
