Why would he get an idiot who plays goalie with a player stick? |
|
|
|
They couldn't have retained any more salary. They are already retaining part of Staff's too and you can only retain salary for 3 players - HonkFortheGoose
Thank you for pointing that out. |

I get your point B-S, but I think that those 05-06 teams helped usher in a new generation of Sabres fans. They will have no problem selling season tickets for years. - grand-magus
Yeah, but if we took the last three years, then became the what the leafs are now the last 7 years, it wouldn't last. Its like the Bills. Ask any teacher in WNY who the kids in school like, they will all tell you the Pats, Seahawks, Broncos, Cowboys, Colts, Saints. Back in the 90's that would be considered sacrilegious.
I'm not worried about it, but my point is this isn't Toronto. |

This is not true. Buffalo is not Toronto/Canada level of support. If we get truly demoralized, support will diminish. We were the hottest team out of the lockout in '05, but didn't start selling out games until about this time in '06. From 2002-2005 tickets were basically give away's in this town. People are only hanging on because they are being sold belief right now, and I believe they will be reawrded. - Buffalo-Sabres
I respectfully disagree. We will not get back to that level again because the league knows Pegulla with his billions will not let that happen. He can always buy our way to at least mediocrity, and the league knows that. Having McEichel here is a waste of a great opportunity for them, that's why the lottery is done behind closed doors, so they have control where the 1st goes. McEichel can turn any struggling team around or bring in new fans from an untapped market and that makes sense for a team like Arizona to get him. |

He's coming off of a month long knee injury. He had a really bad outing on Friday. My guess would be if he doesn't get called up, it's because they don't think he'll be able to handle it right now.
Plus they probably could use a bit more of a veteran presence, so D'Amigo makes more sense right now for several reasons. |

The sabres have a really high television draw for the size of the team financially. This generates a lot of ad revenue for the league. That's how you sell it, by telling the advertisers how many people are going to see your ads. So, add McEichel to that mix and I assume the TV viewers grow even more, which equals more ad revenue.

I respectfully disagree that it makes sense to have Mcdavid in Arizona. They will never reach anything close to their potential in Arizona except in the second round of the playoffs or later. Whereas in Buffalo, he will not only max out our local market, the Sabres being Penguins good would convert fans from a very wide region to become Sabres fans, as well as awaken the Sabres fan base around North America, as we are one of the higher attended road teams. Which will help revenues for all teams.

Someone tried telling me today that Mitchell Marner is in the same tier as Eichel and Hanifin. I want to take his internet away.

But we are one of the highest attending road teams because these fans are buffalo people that have moved to other parts of the country for economic reasons. They are Sabres fans no matter what, and our market is already and have been fully committed, their is not a lot of people left in the WNY area that the league can draw in, our market does not have any untapped fans that the league can persuade, but Arizona has 5 million people and very few care about hockey, McEichel in Arizona can grow the game exponentially in his first year alone. As for McEichel not taking the Yotes further than the second round, I believe he can. Arizona already has a lot of young talent just like us, and if they get either of those top prospects they will do for Arizona exactly what we want them to do for us. Its happened for teams like Pitt with Crosby and its happened with almost every team who recently had the 1st pick just look at Chi, Pitt, and now teams like Tampa and NYI.
