Regier held on too long to the old core otherwise we would have been through this rebuild earlier.

I agree with that.

Something Darcy would never have done.
Darcy got value for his less than stellar players, always did.
Darcy wasn't smug and thought that he was going to outsmart all the other brighter GM's in the league the way Murray thinks he is going to.
As I said yesterday, Murray's smugness will be his demise and I can just about guarantee that, there was evidence of it yesterday.
If that is true that Anaheim offered a 4th for Meszaros and he turned that down and in the end got nothing well.....that speaks to what I am pointing out about him.
If Murray needs tanking to make a name for himself to collect a generational talent, well he's not fooling this guy.
Any neanderthal can do what he did yesterday and IMO lose on the Kane deal as well.
He was brutal as far as GM's go yesterday but some here make excuses for him, and well that's their prerogative.
So let's all give him credit for making his coach look bad.
So let's all give him credit for wasting season ticket holders monies sitting and watching this abomination called hockey.
So let's all give him credit for deliberately tanking to have a generational talent fall in his lap, laughing at the NHL, it's systems and an organized game that has existed for over 100 years.
Let's all give him credit when he boasts about how he attained McDavid or Eichel when he only did what a "caveman could do".
What's alarming is that everyone (well not everyone) but mostly, want to sing Murray's praises for doing nothing thus far IMO and do nothing but knock and hack Darcy down at the knees when he put the Sabres in a very good position upon his dismissal.
Murray makes one trade that IMO he overpaid and his smugness killed him at the deadline.
Lets not even mention a 2nd rounder for -30 at one stretch this season Josh Gorges.
I'll give credit to the guy when HE HIMSELF actually does something to improve this hockey club.
This summer he has tons of cap space where he can play the part of vulture much like the Islanders did at the start of this season, eating other teams cap casualties.
Yet another gift to Murray and nothing he had to devise a plan for or work for.
Let's see what he does with it.
That guy doesn't have me fooled one bit.

"Something Darcy would never have done. " - How long was that poopty core here? You're going to sit there in your judgement thrown and tell us Darcy didn't hang onto his 2nd rate players for too (frank)ing long? You must be joking.

"Darcy got value for his less than stellar players, always did." - So did Murray. Please, please tell me you don't have your Darcy shades on. He got value appropriate to the players he sold. Murray got huge value for selling Miller and Ott. He got decent value for Stewart, but Stewart doesn't have a lot of value. Torrey Mitchell? We traded for him last year for McMuscle. What exactly do you think he's worth for a 2 month rental? That's right. Jack (frank)ing squat. Hey look, we got a pair of picks for a pair of backup goalies. Go find me an example of a backup goalie netting a 1st round pick. Jesus.

"Darcy wasn't smug and thought that he was going to outsmart all the other brighter GM's in the league the way Murray thinks he is going to." (frank)ing spare me. Darcy would ONLY make a trade when he knew he could bend the other GM over a rail. This "smugness" of Murray is some sort of bullpoop fabrication you came up with because you don't like his (frank)ing approach to a rebuild. He's doing THE SAME poop Darcy was going to do.

"As I said yesterday, Murray's smugness will be his demise and I can just about guarantee that, there was evidence of it yesterday." Evidence. Yeah. What evidence is that. When terry Pegula tells us he has fired Murray for being Smug, I'll send you and your large family on a vacation to Aruba.

"If that is true that Anaheim offered a 4th for Meszaros and he turned that down and in the end got nothing well.....that speaks to what I am pointing out about him." - Hey look, a rumor! 4th round picks rarely.. very rarely.. define an NHL line up. These type of players are a dime a dozen and we were lucky to unearth Marcus Foligno and his 30 points a season.

"If Murray needs tanking to make a name for himself to collect a generational talent, well he's not fooling this guy." You are in fact the fool if you can not see that Murray is trying to improve this team by bottoming out and selecting a franchise talent to build around. We already have some great pieces in our system and they will be added to in the near future.

"Any neanderthal can do what he did yesterday and IMO lose on the Kane deal as well. " Get out of your (frank)ing cloud and go be a GM. Wait, that's right. You're not qualified. Guess we're all neandrathals.

"He was brutal as far as GM's go yesterday but some here make excuses for him, and well that's their prerogative." Yeah, he was brutal for getting value for backups and THIRD AND FOURTH LINE PLAYERS. Good (frank)ing point Hat.

"Yet another gift to Murray and nothing he had to devise a plan for or work for." A plan is in motion, you just fail to see it, and furthermore, fail to accept it.

It's too early for this bullpoop, I swear.

Still got too much to do with this team to go one way or another. The pieces are there but Murray still has to complete the puzzle before he receives any praise or condemnation from me.

And this is where your argument falls down. Flash back four years ago. Your roster is made up of Pommer, Roy, Vanek, Gaustad, Miller, etc. What is GM Hat going to do?

Once again, who is saying Murray is GM of the year? He finished the job he was tasked with. The teardown is over.

It really doesn't have anything to do with them.
My astonishment is with the Murray love.
It's kinda weird really.

There isn't Murray love. There's defending him because of the ridiculous bullpoop you accuse him of.

This is a fair statement. I don't think anyone here is calling Murray the GM of the century. What Murray has done, SO FAR, is excellent. He's executing a plan and doing it well. He has a LONG ways to go, but so far, he's done well. Tearing down is a lot easier than building up.

I actually don't think he has a lot more work to do. The farm is stocked, we have a ridiculous amount of cap space and a ton of draft picks this year and next. I fully expect another hockey trade this summer as well as a free agent or two coming in. At that point the roster is full of capable players. We already have our future D all set.

What happens next will define TM.

That's if everyone pans out on D. Myers was a calder winner and was looking like a future norris candidate, look how that turned out. There's alot of young guys and they arent all gonna hit.

Sure, of course. My point is that the immediate roster building will be done. Will everyone pan out? Of course not. And some in the next wave of prospects will supplant guys that are here.

The team that Darcy works for now may have worse goaltending than we do. At least we have two players that have had some success in he nhl. They have a guy that has had some success in the nhl and a guy that has been marginally successful in the ahl.

Darcy's team also sold off any assets they had over the past few days to get worse and just randomly picked players off of the waiver wire to fill out their roster. Buffalo is bringing I. Young kids to determine if they have a future in the nhl before the summer moves.

What was Darcy's big return for drury and briere? How about hasek, satan and peca?

He had failures too. Take the blinders off
