I truly feel sorry for my friends that have Sabres season tickets paying NHL prices for AHL talent in many positions. I guess we will find out how good our farm system is..this has been tough to watch. How will we ever sign quality free agents in the future if they know they will get dumped in 8 months?

Mitchell was traded for what is believed to be a third rounder

or a 7th rounder. i mean those are basically the same, right?

What players on existing roster after today will be on a cup contender (hopefully in two years). I only see LW Kane, C/LW Girgensons and the d of Bogosion, Ristolainen, Zadarov. Maybe sprinkle in Ennis as a third line type and some grit and serviceable (Foligno/Deslauriers) for a fourth line like player but that's it.
Offseason should be easy just get a #1, 2 & 3 RW, a Vet kick ass Top 4 D (I like our prospect depth but not like most people) and a Goalie, ...EASY!!!

And for so long Garth claimed Stewart would fetch a first, a player and a prospect.

And you know this how? I think Tim was asking to Much and lost trade partners. Stewart is very fast big tough perfect playoff dump and chase style. Hate this trade tired of fans settling for mediocrity y is it just enough to be bad and get mCeichel. I wanted to see pieces we could actually use by 2020. replace the ones we lost in Kane deal would of been nice. Didn't hate that trade but murray has said winnepeg was the desperate ones to make that deal didn't look that we shoulda waited on that one.

Problem for Stewart is the chase part. He has the dump part down pat

The guy doesnt give 100 percent every game granted took plenty off. But playoffs are different if you ment his skating hes easily in the top 90 percent in the nhl s fasted skaters.

Could "not finishing 30th" be a fireable offense for Tim Murray?

Or maybe better yet... Shouldn't it be?

These fans have hung onto their season tickets for 2 years, driven by the notion that they were going to net a McEichel in this yr's draft. Sheeeet man, the Sabres are even hosting juniors games!

And if you don't land that bonafide #1 center right now, where are you planning on finding that player? And say you don't, who's winning the Cup without an All-Star centerman?

Don't blow it now TM!!!

Because if anybody really wanted him they would have offered more than a second rounder.

it's a 3rd if we win the cup, a 7th if not

and for the record, if we win the cup I don't care if Snow throws all our remaining 2015 picks in the air and lets whoever pick them up have them.

This team is an embarrassment to the NHL intentionally tanking. The NHL should move your pick to 30th overall just to send a message.

As if the NHL stands for purity, truth and justice in the world.

Pittsburgh got Mario Lemieux AND Sidney Crosby, and now it's Buffalo's turn.

Lemieux said it well when he called the NHL a "garage league", just to send a message.

Edmonton No. 1 overall picks in last five drafts = 3
Edmonton Top-3 picks in last five drafts = 4
Edmonton Top-10 picks in last five drafts = 5

Buffalo No. 1 overall picks in last five drafts = 0
Buffalo Top-3 picks in last five drafts = 1
Buffalo Top-10 picks in last five drafts = 2

And just to further the point:
Buffalo No. 1 overall picks since 1970 = 2
Buffalo Top-3 picks since 1970 = 3

Please, throw more stones from your glass house.

Haven't the Oilers been tanking for the last 6 years?! One day they'll develop a draft pick.

I doubt Edmonton is out of the race for last. Even if they are, you also seem to be forgetting the fact that there is a draft lottery, and the worst two teams in the league are statistically unlikely to win the lottery (If weighed collectively as a group vs the rest of the field as a group). Just because Buffalo and Arizona finish in the last two spots, doesn't mean they draft 1-2, it just means that they have a better individual chances to win than any other team. Even then, chances are one of the twelve other teams in the lottery win the draft lottery (33.5% vs 66.5%)

Its about finishing last for guaranteed eichel and maybe mcdavid. We all know the numbers. 29th guarantees nothing. Its all about 30th.
