Time to switch to the Ducks game, I don't think we've come back from trailing in the third once this year |

Sutter... Could have set up a one timer wide open in the slot, skates to within a foot then tries to set him up for the one timer that misses the stick and rolls to the point. God I hate Sutter - znagle

Yup. Could have been a goal too. Wide open less than 10 feet from the net.. and Sutter slowly skates a foot away and tries to set him up for the one timer. |

Despres just tossed a suicide pass to a forward and he got dropped... in case anyone was wondering, then he was out of position and blocked a shot. |

Correct, which is surprising. You figure it would have happened at least once this season. |

Pens can't score on a (frank)ing powerplay... so let's pull the goalie with 225 left and put more guys on the ice... pass pass pass pass lose puck misses empty net pass pass pass pass horn sounds.... |

Sutter and BB needed to be packaged at the deadline for someone. They are the two glaring weak points on our team. We should have sent BB down if we weren't going to trade him. Spaling is also easily replaceable for a 1M guy. He had some potential so he was signed to a 2M contract. Wish we would've packed Sutter with Neal for Horn and Forsberg, although that was after Sutter peaked in the playoffs. |

My Sutter lowlight was when MAF went to bench for the extra skater as the Pens were dominating. Then Sutter get's the puck and immediately loses the possession in a board battle. |

Wow... that's what happens when u don't put pucks towards the net... u go (frank)ing forward not backwards... - nh4442
The east-west stuff, especially right inside the blueline kills me. This group hasn't received the memo that pond hockey (e.g. 80, early 90's) is long gone. Back checking/ gap control has become a core function of the modern game, so those horizontal type plays simply do not have enough time to fully materialize. Maybe once or so you can catch the opponent with a bad change. For the most part, the game is played w/ speed... going north/ south. Coincidentally, that's the shortest path the respective nets.
I'd throw a hypothesis out there the PGH leads the league in t/o's within 6-10 ft. inside the offensive blueline.

LOL I don't doubt it. I've been on the Ducks game after that third goal. I still think that Sutter "one timer pass" tops that though. That was one of the worst plays I've seen him make ever |

Also the announcers for the Ducks are saying GMJR approached the them with the proposal. They will NOT stop talking about Despres |

I lost count of how many corners winnick won the puck, turned to look at the net and no one was there as sutter was backing up to the blue line. Wtf is that |

His confidence is low... Regular Sutter doesn't even make idiotic plays like that |

This.
If 58, 7 and 87 don't show up on the same night the Penguins will lose every one of those games.
Crappy effort to start the trip.

I really do wonder is JR asked anyone about a trade with Sutter or BB involved. |

They need to go back to the original o zone strategy. .. The one I coach mites.... player A with puck goes down towards net slightly offset. Player B goes to opposite side of net giving player A an option to pass or get rebound. Player C follows player A slightly offset into middle of zone around has marks for option pass and or rebound. This design creates a triangle and gives the best opportunity to pass or get a rebound.. While still getting the puck to the net... |

He is the weak link on this team. Extra emphasis on weak. Even BB seems to handle getting knocked around better than him. No wonder JR is pining for Staal. |

Despres was on the PK and MON pulled the goalie with 2 minutes left. Fowler got it off the faceoff and scored full ice. Was hoping to see how it worked out but it shows the confidence they have in him. Also while typing this MON scored, Despres was trying to block a pass on one knee and they scored a backdoor. Despres wasn't in good position. |
