Its a shame he will have to clear waivers to be sent to rochester next season. If he is given the rest of the season to show where he stands developmentally it could be the difference between being worried about someone claiming him or not. - ieetbred
he should either be playing and practicing with the big club next season, or off the roster
there was no reason to keep him off the big club this season IMO

I thought he should have gotten a good look at the begining of the season, but i wasnt upset he was sent down.
I think getting big minutes in roch has helped, we should get a good idea of how much tonight. I think with nolan in charge having him on the sabres this season would have been another disaster.
Next season if he isnt ready he isnt ready.. doesnt mean we should give up on him. Its unfortunate he will have to clear wavers and if he is really close it might put the sabres in a tough spot.
scored 0 goals 4 times
1 goal 11 times
2 goals 6 times
thats on pace for 20 goals in 21 of the 28 games
and they had goalies, girgens and stewart then - homiedclown
Good points.
I still believe they catch some teams sleeping in the first period as well as more backup goalies. Pucks will end up in the net. Who knows maybe grigo comes in and makes the team better? lol
Does this help or hurt the Sabres chances for trading for ROR? - The Don
So I read the other day that trades can happen after the deadline, but the player(s) involved cannot play for the regular season or playoffs of that year. But for the Sabres interest in ROR, that would be fine. And with this injury to McKinnon, I am sure Colorado does not mind losing now, to get a better pick, so they might do that too. Only time will tell, but I think it would not happen until 7/3 when we can negotiate a new contract with him as part of the deal.

Does anyone out there ever recall a trade after the deadline but before the end of the season or during the playoffs? I haven't. Probanly no sense of urgency if you're out of the playoffs.

It's in my mind that the players who get traded have to clear waivers before they could be traded, so that is the bigger hindrance to trades after the deadline.

In other sports, yes. It probably happens most in baseball - a player will go down and the team will try to bring someone in to help out before the playoffs.

I could be wrong though - stashu
There really isn't a trade deadline per se. I believe that to be eligible to play in the playoffs a player has to be in the organizatoin by 3 p.m. on march 2nd.

Some one mentioned trades can happen like anytime but the players cannot participate in the playoffs.

I agree. I just learned of this. I have heard of teams trading during the playoffs (non playoff teams), but to me, if you are trading someone, it would seem to have less value at that time, but who knows.
I doubt anything happens, just some new information to me, so I was sharing.

Yes, I know, but what I posted is something that I'm pretty sure I've heard - but it may also be in reference to another sport and not NHL, hence why I said I may be wrong.
My post is basically saying that yes, players can be traded after the deadline, but it's in my head that I think all players have to clear waivers prior to the transaction happening.
the slug and the red jersey during that era was much worse then the sabres jersey they chose IMO - homiedclown
The slug was so bad because there was just simply no reason for it. Otherwise a great jersey outside of that. The red would be a nice jersey NOT for the Sabres. I would enjoy a goathead throwback day.

Im a graphic designer by trade. So sometimes i think people should clarify between the logo and the garment itself. Like, the sabres current 3rd is all garment "upgrades" with the same logo. Whereas, the slug was a stupid logo. I often react to logo changes more, like the gortons fisherman, one of the worst ever. I think the entire mighty ducks franchise is one of the NHL's greatest embarrassments. So glad the new owner had the warewithall to completely separate the team from disney and that stupid movie.
I still think the current turd jerseys could actually be cool if they didn't have mustard yellow, Time New Roman "BUFFALO" font and the gray sleeves. The two color gold front blue back could be really cool if it was done correctly

That, by far, is the worst thing about that sweater. It looks like an afterthougt. Like someone said "hey, dont you think it should say Buffalo on it somewhere?" So thats's what they did.
I actually remember a sweater conversation years ago here and there was quite a debate about the sabres 40th anniv. sweater. I personally love it. First sweater i have ever bought. I found out a lot of the younger fans hated it. But they also had no idea it referenced the history of the AHL team the knoxes owned prior to the sabres. I thought it was a really well crafted tribute to the history of the Sabres.
