Its not racist. We have hated on ever QB since Flutie.... This is ridic. Why is race such a big thing with you? The natives talk the other day and now this? come on now - Smittyx36
I honestly have listened to people for the past 2 years go on about EJ. All I said is I think that the majority of it is racist. You don't have to deny that you are racist because I made an observation.

Uh, no? I was banned for like, 5 hours for taking a personal jab at HH, which I admit was unprovoked at the time. And had nothing to do with race or politics.
And again, I was not and am not accusing you of being racist and never said you were. And I know you are a Cam Newton fan, we'd all love to see him on our favorite/hometown team.
If you misinterpreted my post, though I did say I was not directing my statement at you personally (and I wasn't) then I apologize but you are seriously over-reacting. - DynamicThreads

All of those guys got more than 15 games to prove they sucked. And I think Fitz, for the most part, especially in hindsight, was generally liked. EJ has all but been run out of town at this point and I stated my opinion on the matter. The "criticism" directed towards EJ Manuel is generally harsher and from a smaller sample size than any of the guys you listed.
Why do you think Roger Goodell told Michael Vick not to sign in Buffalo? - DynamicThreads
Because the bills would have made him starter week one, had zero leadership and a backwards ass management team? As opposed to a team with a good vet leader in mcnabb and a respected coach in andy reid? Or you can just make up reasons like race as you see fit. This team has had a below average qb for years. Dont think people would get tired of it? Plus we reached on a qb whos college coach said wasnt nfl starter quality?

your observation is calling out fellow fans... If we were racist would freddy be the fan favorite for the bills? Why is everything about race??? This is sports, not politics.

Well, I was not calling you personally, a racist. Go back and read my post, because I literally said I wasn't directing my opinion on the matter of EJ Manuel's criticism by the general populace of a region which proudly flies the confederate flag in their front yards, wears shirts emblazoned with it, and drives around pick-up trucks with stickers all over them.

What does whaleys race have to do with anything? . We, whaley, the bills, pegula or whatever, reached on a qb who would have been available in the second or third round. |

Again, why are you including yourself and defending yourself with examples of players you like? I am making a statement, observation and assessment of a situation where to me, the MAJORITY of fans are in the wrong about. That could mean 51% or more. And I don't think sports are free of politics or racism.
Why do you say "we" and try to defend yourself when I didn't say you personally?
And I am being attacked for it. Sorry, but racism exists. I made a statement that I think holds some merit. And I think in the case of EJ, my conclusion is that it is predominantly so. |

Yes, every city has those morons. And the majority are in rural ares. But that is where most sports fans come from. It is a result of the segregation in this country and just because you cannot see them, doesn't mean they aren't there. I appreciate your opinion on the matter but just because people like 1 (or 1000) African-american player(s) doesn't mean that another isn't subjected to prejudice because of his race.
Honestly, the way some people are reacting to this is all the proof that is needed.

Sorry if I ruffle feathers for speaking my mind and having an opinion but people's denial, dismissal and refusal to even consider what I'm saying is proof that what I'm saying is true (what I am saying is true to an extent, like anything).
We cannot continue to deny things and pretend they don't exist just to feel good about ourselves. That creates a larger issue and causes blatant over-reaction, bottled up anger and resentment.
I say things not to accuse, but to make others actually consider for one second that they are not a saint. And that they can always better who they are and how they react.
I'm just as guilty as anyone else of everything I say. Sorry, but this is America and it was structured to be this way. |

Nobody is denying the existence of racism though. If someone is, they're just clueless. The people here arguing against you just believe that racism isn't the reason behind this situation. We hate every quarterback here that doesn't over perform. I'm personally an EJ fan, but I hang around a large number of people, friends and acquaintances, that dislike him, with many being from the rural areas. Even then; I haven't heard a single person complain about him based on race. I know that there are gonna be racists that hate him, but to say half of the hate is race based seems pretty ludicrous IMO. |

First off, thanks for constructively adding to my thought on the subject.
The bolded part, however is where I have to say that you, me or anyone else doesn't have to make a racial slur, or say anything blatantly racist, in order for it to be racist. I'm glad the people you've talked to don't seem to be bigots, but I have heard a lot of extra, vulgar, insults directed at him that aren't necessarily racial slurs, but weren't anything used to describe guys like Losman, Edwards, etc...
You can be making a judgement on someone that is racist without realizing it. And you don't have to say anything that is a slur in order for it to be as such.
But flat out denying that a large amount of his criticism is racial biased is ignoring the fact that, a large amount of his criticism is just that. And I think its to the point where it is becoming a theme. |

This guy is on the wrong forums. You rarely hear of race being an issue in football. I mean the majority of the players are black.
You're attacking OUR community and WE don't like that. That's why we are reacting the way we are.
Its people like you that make race such a big issue. I rarely ever see racist things being said on here or about EJ. I go out to bars for the games, I'm on several bills forums, and I go to the games and tailgate with lots of people and the race of EJ is NEVER mentioned as a reason why we dislike him. We dislike him because he plays scared, cant make the easy passes, and just doesn't seem to have the leadership qualities a NFL QB needs.
And In my opinion Edwards was hate way more than EJ. Captain checkdown. We had a damn nickname for the guy.
Thats it for me with you. Have a good one |

One that went to the topic of football where a few people repeatedly stated how much EJ Manuel sucks, just like in the last 5 blogs where the same few people repeatedly stated how much EJ Manuel sucks.
And it isn't a light-hearted:
'Fitz sucked!' or 'Losman was a bum'.
Its actually bordering on absurd and I said something about it.

I think that people often say 'I don't like black quarterbacks because....' For some reason people feel comfortable saying that. In my experience this is a thing that is blatantly stated. |
