His finish left two months ago. Against the Rangers with a minute left he shot the puck thru the crease from a few feet away. - Feanor
Just like Umberger missed the open net against the Bruins. Both players are cooked!
Rather have Vinny " try" his one timer on the 2nd PP than watch RJ get pushed to the ice on a consistent basis |

Brayden Schenn deserved the scratch more than RJ, and it may have a more positive result. - flyer_nutter
I know this: Putting him back on L1 is akin to trying to run through a brick wall for the 10th time after knocking yourself out the first nine |

What does scratching Umberger tonight accomplish? In my view, answering that question explains why it hasn't been done sooner. - MJL
So why scratch any of the other players. Why scratch Bellemare or VDV?
Scratching him takes a guy who has been pretty much poop all year long out of the lineup, and gives it to a guy who may pissed about being sat again. Even if there is the smallest flicker of life in VL, its more than what RJ has been bringing.
Its now on Cheif to put his best lines together. I doubt it will look much different than what we have seen.

I hope somebody drills that p.o.s. Jamie benn. I hate him and the dallas stars so much... and I don't really know why. - benjichronic

Jamie Benn seems like a player that Philly fans would love.
Should be a high scoring game tonight. Hopefully we get the short end of the straw and lose. Need to catch a few teams to get into that 5-6 pick. |

You guys will like Martel, I saw him play the last few years with the Armada. Small but very fast skater. He's feisty and doesn't take a night off.
I was wondering if he would be recruited by the Habs, but then again, he would have been just another midget with them. I'm happy to see that a team has given him a chance.
Those are the kind of moves that don't cost an organization much, and you never know.

I would do the opposite with Schenn.. put him on a lower, simpler line. Keep it as basic as can be. Him between Bellemare and VDV. Get pucks deep work hard, get to the net. |

Maybe. Even by RJ's own words, he's had it coming. He's been around for awhile and you're not going to shake his confidence as much as you might by benching BSchenn.
You might just lose BSchenn if you buried him at this point. The only way he is gonna get better is by playing him (unfortunately).
I'd be down with getting BSchenn off of the first PP unit, though. That should have already happened. |

Scratching a player like Bellemare, who is an NHL rookie, gave him a perspective to watch a game and look at some things. Bellemare stated that watching a game from the press box helped him to correct some things that he needed to get better at.
Who is the guy that may be pissed about sitting again? Lecavalier? He's been sat before and came back and not much changed. Lecavalier may score a goal tonight, and that will help, but will that happen long term?
One player is a one dimensional offensive player, who hasn't been producing. The other is a grinder and checker, who use to have some offense to his game. Are you really going to tell me that making that change is going to make the Flyers a better team? That scratching Umberger is going to make him a better player? The options that Berube was given, aren't an improvement over Umberger. As sad as that is to say.
It's no on Cheif to put his best lines together made me laugh. What exactly is that? He's put umpteen line combinations out there. Of course it won't look much different then what we've seen. We've just about seen it all that this team has to offer in terms of line combinations.Cheif is such a bad coach, he's been holding out and reluctant to put those quality players he has had in the press box to replace RJ Umberger! LOL |

The line he's been playing on is that kind of line. He's been outplayed by Ryan White. |

He has been pretty atrocious in all zones. He and VL are both a -9. Rinaldo a -10.
He has been pretty bad aside from a 3 weeks spurt. Its unreal that he is finally a healthy scratch for game #67 or whatever the hell it is. - jak521
Part of +/- is goal scoring also. When you play a lot against top lines, and the line you're on doesn't produce a lot of offense, being -9 doesn't point out that you're atrocious in all zones. |

There's one area B Schenn has been good at on the PP. Puck retreivals on dump ins and winning pucks battles on draws. |

Use it as a carrot for him to perform better at ES?
And who is to say it isn't Top 4 in spite of Brayden Schenn? |

honestly, the Vinny LeCavalier signing is probably the worst FA signing ever in Flyers history. - KGBflyers10
Its been a total disaster. In Holmgrens defense though....Who would have ever guessed a future HOF'er, 50 goal scorer, Olympic World Cup Champion, 400 career goal scoring player would fall flat on his face at the age of 32-33??!! Thats Flyers luck right there. |
