Not sure why you are in favor of scratching Del Zotto when you rule out the possibility of scratching Umberger. - feelingkettle
Not understanding my position then. Scratching Del Zotto served a distinct and clear purpose. Berube felt that Del Zotto was playing too much as an individual, and was playing too recklessly on the rush. He scratched him to fix that issue, and it seems to have worked. Del Zotto has regained his game, and has had a strong season. Del Zotto certainly deserves most of the credit for that, but the scratchings seems to have motivated him to fix the issues in his game. It also greatly helped that the Flyers had legit NHL defenseman to put in the lineup in place of Del Zotto. Perhaps if that wasn't the case, maybe Del Zotto stays in, or certainly has the length of his removal from the lineup reduced.
Now let's look at Umberger. First of all, I've never ruled out the possibility of scratching Umberger. I've said multiple times, that Umberger was not scratched previously because his play was so good that it wasn't deserved. Berube distinctly said earlier in the season, scratching players is on an individual basis. In my opinion, and I think this is Berube's thinking also, is that scratching Umberger is not going to serve a purpose. Other then just getting another player in the lineup like tonight. Scratching Umberger isn't going to improve him as a player. Scratching him and bringing in another player that the coach has available to him, isn't going to improve the team. In my opinion, each situation has to be looked at independently, and look at all the factors involved.

Hextall appears to be the only guy calling the shots that has a semblance of a realistic plan to build a winning team.
The Phillies are flat out screwed for a decade. The Sixer's just keep watching the roulette wheel and never place a bet. The Eagles... Who knows. Chip goes all in and if he fails leaves the city in the dust without a second thought. - hereticpride
I don't know what kind of magic Hextall is going to be able to weave in order to regain a semblance of salary sanity on this squad.... in the near future.
Chip Kelly.. wow. When he first took over, I told my football buddies that I thought the Chip Kelly era would last three years and each year would be more frustrating than the last. At the end of Kelly's first season and up to the point in his second season where they were 9-3, I looked like an even bigger idiot than I normally do with that prediction. Now, I'm not so sure that I wasnt right in the first place.
The Sixers... they almost seem like some bizarre psycho-social experiment being performed on an innocent and unwitting fanbase.
The Phillies... might rack up another 10,000 losses before they sniff another world series. |

Thats not going to happen. Why wouldn't the Titans just trade for Bradford themselves? |

My god. - hereticpride
Well, Bradford does say he loves hockey as much as he love football, playing through his sophomore year at OU, so he does have some positive attributes. |
