Berube on why he yanked Umberger out today, not earlier: "Because I wanted to, that's why. I wanted Vinny back in there tonight." #Flyers

These changes could and should have happened in November. Why now? Why with 15 meaningless games left? Makes little sense.
That's a good question. |

Agreed. We should have replaced those guys with our much better options. |

Isn't that the whole point? Now Rinaldo is on the 3rd line. I keep reading that there are better options. Like what? It's all pretty much been tried by the coach. |

Every day I want to see Berube fired more and more. I don't like his jerkoff name, I don't like his jerkoff face, I don't like his jerkoff system, I don't like him. Jerkoff.
But seriously... whether it all falls on his shoulders or not (obviously it doesn't), if he is still the coach next season I'm going to have to really re-evaluate my participation. |

I know it's tough, but put the sarcasm aside for a second*. Why exactly has RJ Umberger been exempt from the accountability thing until now? I'm not even saying he should've been scratched all season, but where other players have faced short term scratches for poor play RJ has played 67 games. Why is he different?
Ok, sarcasm reactivated.
(*I think this came off as more abrasive and less playful than I intended, sorry about that) |

He's a hell of a shooter. Rumor is hes consistently draining his cheesesteak wrapper from the corner of the Shelley suite
In fact. Vinny was overheard yelling "count it!! and one!!" After amac went for the block and hit his arm - Just5
I never understand the points you try to make, so I'll make mine simple.
I'm fine if Vinny sinks himself but in this case Berube is holding his head under water. |

At least he and AMac are honest about it, unlike Vinny. - jmatchett383
Who knows? Maybe we get lucky and Umberger retires
At some point, one of he or Vinny has to look in the mirror and realize where they are -- barely replacement level, and that is being kind |

That's probably the biggest change in the sport that I've seen. There once was a time when a player like Vinny could still be a second-liner, in the days of obstruction and hooking and holding.
But with those things eliminated, the ability to skate is just paramount. He and Umberger just simply cannot skate well enough, long enough in shifts, to be effective in today's NHL
They really need to retire. This sport is punishing players who can't skate. They have to see that |

Especially since Vinny has already made his big money, and continues to do so from Tampa.. and is/will from Philly. I think with him though, it isn't all about the money.. He was, and is a competitor.. but he's just lost it. He needs to look in the mirror, realize he's making money for doing nothing, have a little pride, and retire already... |

Sitting Umberger now makes Berube look even worse. He can't even answer the question why he decides to scratch him now. Why was he not held to this standard earlier in the season when he was consistently icing pucks so he didn't have to take a hit.
It's harder and harder to defend him. |

Since the season is pretty much lost, how about putting some nastiness back into the team? Bring up Rosehill, keep Rinaldo, go fetch "Carbomb, etc.. At least the games would be fun to watch, and everyone would fear coming into Philly to play...lol. Oh, and take Mase out so that he won't have to face so many shots, and get depressed. Bring in the Stolarz, and he can fight the other goalie as well...woohoo. Blood, blood everywhere....lol. |

Was Vinny and Rinaldo playing so much better? How many other options are their to replace these guys. |

I totally agree -- I don't fault anyone for wanting to play, but in pro sports, the mind tends to be willing long after the flesh has become weak
I feel for the guy in the respect that you always want to go out on your own terms. But pro sports is vicious in that way. Very few players get to leave on their own terms, or how they feel they should leave

Pride goes out the door in the face of $$$. If I'm him I smile and I hang a basketball net on the Shelley suite door and have Luke tape me making a no look shot from the corner of the suite |

honestly, the Vinny LeCavalier signing is probably the worst FA signing ever in Flyers history. |
