Do we really want to burn a top pick on another shut-down player? I'm sure this has been asked and answered already, but what's his projected/estimated up-side offensively? - wolfhounds
Crouse is a good prospect, he's played better as the season went on. A lot of people view him as a very safe pick, and figure he's going to be a quick path to the NHL.
He's got a good all around game, and his production has been hurt by his team and system. That said, he doesn't dominate juniors like he should, give his physical gifts. I've seen and read numerous scouts in him and they feel, at worst, he can step in and be a good middle six winger who can play any role solidly. |

Not that it means a whole lot, but Craig Button's list has Hanifin dropping to 8th http://www.tsn.ca/craig-s...vid-stands-alone-1.227769 - Coleman
He's not flashy, but I would peg him as a bigger, better version of Ryan Murray. To me, he's still a solid number three in this draft |

It would take a first rounder for me to take that contract back. |

Asked and answered. It's not a yes or no question in my opinon. - MJL
You want to point fingers ....you want to make excuses....you never answered the question......has Berube done a good job this year? Yes or no ? Again you FAIL to answer a simple yes no question.....which is pretty funny since you defend him....yet you can't answer with a simple "yes". |

So much for getting Boeser w/ pick #2X - Tomahawk
Button's chart is who he feels will be the best NHLers more than it is a true mock draft. |

I don't know what role he fills on this team anymore.
It's clear he lost a lot or else he wouldn't have been sent down.

Yup, most seem to miss when he says that as he puts his list out. |

For the leadership issue among the players, that Hextall says needs to be evaluated? No. |

I just want to lock up the 7th pick, do that and I can at least feel that something good has come from this crappy season. |

Well, its not as good as 7th.
Its just that there is so little to really like about this season
Voracek showing he can be a world class player, Del Zotto finding his game and the play of Mason are really about it. |

The thing with Phaneuf is , he is a good defenseman when he is playing with a reliable partner that can make up for his shortcomings. Realistically you'd want Phaneuf as your #2 or #3 guy paired with a player who is more consistent and not as mistake prone as Phaneuf is in his own end. The Flyers don't have that player to put with Phaneuf. - FreshFlyer
So let me get this right. Phaneuf is prone to mistakes but Chris Pronger, Eric Desjadins and Kimmo Timonen aren't? Chris Pronger was the best of the bunch but he was slow and got burnt for it at times. Clearly he made up for his lack of speed in other ways but for the most part, that's a flaw. Do I believe Dion Phaneuf is better then Kimmo Timonen or Eric Desjardins? I'm not gonna answer that, I'm just gonna say Phaneuf is a different player, who has been on a bad team for along time.
The Flyers defence is bad and if you can't see that at this point you must be fooling yourself. Phaneuf coming to this defence would just add to that mediocrity in my opinion. Just another big contract defenseman who isn't playing up to the standard of such a big contract. The Flyers don't need any more of those defenseman and adding Phaneuf just furthers the problem. I'd want to see the Flyers keep their assets or at least keep them and trade them for that true #1 guy if that opportunity arises. - FreshFlyer
I never said our defense was good. If this is what you took from my original statement, I'd read slower next time. I absolutely believe he'd improve our defense and if you want to improve the defense, you have to pay the price with assets and in money. You know who isn't a good defenseman, Mark Streit and Michael Del Zotto. What keeps them in the league is that they serve a purpose, which is being able to handle the puck, carry the puck up ice and generate offense. I trust Phaneuf as an all situations player before I trust anything we have on our backend. I'm not in love with the guy, but he's what is available. |

Copied and pasted from page 6.
"I don't think Berube is at fault for how the season has gone. He certainly shares in the culpability, but it's mostly on the players in my opinion. Whether a coach is at fault or not, it is a results oriented business".
