If Homer was still Gm it would have been done several months ago
Amac and a 2nd for him with the leafs retaining some salary - Steelmanpa
Is that the same Holmgren that was the GM, or part of the player personnel staff that acquired Timonen, Coburn, Hartnell, Briere, Giroux, Simmonds, Voracek, Mason, and Couturier? To name a few? Players that were or are the core nucleus of this team? |

Some kids take longer than others to develop. I was simply wondering if it's in the best interests of the Flyers to take the shut-down guy who might develop his offensive game and become a 2-way phenom, or do you take the guy who projects to be a scoring threat every time he steps on the ice and hope he can develop some defensive responsibility.
Either way, I'm looking forward to the draft and am confident the Flyers are going to get 2 solid players in the 1st round. - wolfhounds
If the Flyers pick 8-10, my top two guys are Matthew Barzal and Timo Meier. That's my own personal opinion. Barzal is a smart, slick playmaking center and Meier is a good, hardworking scoring line winger.
I think if Barzal hadn't been hurt early in the year, he'd be up with Strome, Marner and Hanifin. |

It does suck. it's not even the cap this year, it's the issues moving forward that prevents it. - Jsaquella
I lump all financial constraints under "the cap"

Well we'll see how we look without a number one defenseman for the next number of years. Should be fun. - SuperSchennBros
I'm not disagreeing with you that it is an issue. I think it's the biggest issue facing this team moving forward. I just don't agree with Phaneuf as the solution.

I would like that trade actually.
I think Phaneuf is a legit #2-3 type and they need that. The contract is a bear, but if you get rid of another long term contract in exchange and get the better player, then go for it! |

Gotcha. It does suck. Hell they could be playing Manning, but for some reason they're dressing Grossmann and Colaiacovo. |

If there was an another option, I'd name it. People for the moment are bashing Holmgren and calling Hextall the rookie GM a whole different animal but if I'm Hextall, I don't sit on my hands either. Regardless of the shorten contract, I still view Hartnell for Umberger a bad move. |

This is your argument?
Toronto hasn't had a number center since Mats Sundins. They have no depth. They traded years of first round picks to get Phil Kessel. They weren't making the playoffs long before they traded for Phaneuf and made the playoffs with Phaneuf as their number one defenseman during a year when we didn't make it. If we replace Mark Streit or Andrew MacDonald with Dion Phaneuf, I believe we made the right move. If we're waiting and hoping one of Morin and Sanheim become that guy in half a decade from now, well god bless you for waiting. - SuperSchennBros

Re-read the posts. I never said you're not entitled to your opinion. I only stated mine. I don't want Phaneuf. You do. Big friggen deal. Its your standard hockeybuzz poop-shootin debate. |

I actually felt bad for Cola last night. He looked like he was trying so hard and was pretty bummed on the go ahead goal. (loud F-bomb heard clearly on the TV) |

Didn't see that one but Birdman and Whiplash are definitely worth watching. JK Simmonds and Keaton are both incredible in them. Birdman is very much an acquired taste though. |

Now you're getting outta control. Pull it back a bit.
Winning the lottery would be nuts. We'd have to hold a parade the next day just to drink and party. I like the new format and anything greater than a 5% chance is actually significant. Of course, the lottery is done behind the scenes, right? |
