You see it your way , I will see it mine.

The Flyers have 4 legit defensive prospects on the horizon and nothing close to that when it comes to offense.

If you are trading for a Shea Weber, OEL, Pieterangelo type then I think their top priority this offseason needs to be on offense.

Not even going to consider what I posted? The Flyers have young potential already on the roster!

I stated that I think the Flyers need to add some skill and speed for the 2nd line.

Not about your way or my way, just trying to have a conversation on the subject.

Sure, I will gladly look at what you posted after I finish eating.
I also think it's best for the team if Couturier, Read and Schenn have bounce back years . Hopefully some combo of those 2 do.

Are you including Michael Raffl as part of the young forward core? He missed 15 games this year, and he has 16 goals. There are 14 games still to play. 4 goals away from meeting your criteria.

It's really really easy to forget about Raffl sometimes.

I think he is a solid supporting player right now..Like I think the other 3 are.

Phaneuf just made a huge mistake. Yes I saw it.
- SuperSchennBros

To be fair, Toronto has got to be mailing it in at this point in the season, thinking about warm weather, the off-season, and golf.

So if he gets 4 more goals this season, even with missing 15 games, he won't be one of the offensive players you think the team needs?

It was a pretty brutal gaff by Phaneuf on that first goal. He was on the ice for the second but that was all Lupul. Lupul should have years left in him in the league but tonight he looks like he's in his late 30's.

Yes.. By my own statement of 20 or 50 I think he would qualify as an offensive threat this season.

Phaneuf at 30 years of age with 6 years at 7M per season... Ah...... No thanks!
He is a 2 at the very best. I have the " pleasure" of watching play quite frequently and he is not what the Flyers need. His best hockey was in Calgary.

Honestly it's a tough break, the puck bounces off his stick. That's life as a defenseman sometimes. It's a puck handling error, but hit happens sometimes.

If the flyers trade Amac for him and retain part of amac's salary I wont be shocked.

Okay then that gives us 4 if he gets there. I think Read had an injury that affected his skating and his play, but he's proven he can score at that level. B Schenn has had a 20 goal season. Couturier hasn't reached those numbers yet, but I think he has the potential to. It would help if he had some better wingers, and he could put up some points on the PP.

That's potentially 7 players right there, that could realistically reach that level next season. 7 players scoring 20 goals, and or 50 points in this league is a lot. I understand they have to do it, and they haven't gotten it done this year, and that has been a problem that has to be corrected, but the potential is there. We don't know if the Flyers will add players or trade players so some things could change regarding that. I know one thing in watching Hockey all my years, situations change in a hurry in the NHL. I really don't see the fire alarm when looking at the forwards offensive wise.

I think the bigger issue concerning the forwards is figuring out what to do with Lecavalier and Umberger.

I see him play often myself. I think being in Toronto is a bad example of what he can be. He was handed the Captaincy not long after being traded there and I think this had more to do with him being a big name at the time rather then him being a proven leader. He's also being paid and used like he is one of Weber, Doughty, Chara, Suter and Keith. He isn't. Doug MacLean just made a really good point that the forwards were past the red line that would have forced an impossible stretch pass. The center was as far out as the wingers. No support for the D.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I think your right but I've never seen any of our boys do that. I still think we could use him but simplify. He's the captain. Turn around and call the forwards back. Those guys were way too far out.

Sometimes when a defenseman makes a mistake, there's nobody to back him up, but the goalie. When a forward makes a mistake, most times there are layers to pick him up.

You are right he is used being used like one of those guys and he is getting paid like one of those guys. He is not in their calibre therefore I don't want that contact for what the return is. He is not a Captain and that isn't his fault. If Toronto eats 1.5 M and takes AMac then I would consider it

Alex Ovechkin should never be in doubt as being the second greatest offensive threat in the league. Slow starts never matter with him, he's a second half type of player. Just don't give him time and space.

I would agree. The cap will go up at some point and its an under 35 contract
He can retire without penalty.

Now if only the low flying capbatrosses would retire
Maybe Comcast can urge them to retire and give them jobs with stock options to finish their golden parachutes......
