Does anyone think the Flyers end up promoting Murray in the off season or was he hired to just work with the kids in the AHL. |

Goaltending is the one exception... if the guy who plays all 60mins sucks, you're DOA.
Chief's had good goaltending since he's been here -- can't use that as an excuse. - Tomahawk
He has actually had exceptional goaltending.
Our weakness has been goal scoring.. |

I hope they dont. He would be a step in the right direction, but I want someone different. Babcock obviously would be my first choice.

I think he's better suited as an AHL coach or NHL assistant. I think he's a much better teacher on specifics opposed to an overall big-picture guy. |

Your post clearly stated reasons why you think the Flyers would trade Mason. - MJL
Not what it was about.

I hope not. I really think Snider throws the bank at Babcock.
What are people's opinions on Marc Crawford?

It certainly adds up though. Other than Giroux, Voracek and Simmonds there really isn't much other offensive production on this team. |

Darn! I'm fine when I'm ignored but I really wanted your opinions on Dion Phaneuf and what kind of a bridge gap he could be between Kimmo Timonen and Travis Sanheim. |

All things considered I think the defense is weaker than the offense. |

There was nothing out of context in the conversation. Nor was I debating the meaning of the word context. Nice deflecting though. - MJL
You ignored the context of Mason coming off injury, being unfit to start, stating he hoped he wasn't put into the game, and yet was still inserted even after Berube admitted he didn't think Zepp performed poorly.
Keep trying. |

No, it's not an exception. It's just applying a different standard. Inconsistent play from player from game to game, and period to period, players not playing up to their potential, top players going into slumps, players making mental mistakes, can sink anybody's season. |

Crawford has always seemed to be one of those guys who has success for a bit and whose schtick quickly wears thin. |

I'd like Babcock as well or Tippet. I think Crawford is a good coach too, I'm pretty sure he's coaching somewhere in Europe right now but I could see him coming back to the NHL if the Flyers were interested. |

Phaneuf has a cap hit of $7M until 2020/2021. At that point, Sanheim will be past his ELC as will Morin, Hagg, and Ghost. That's a bit more than a "bridge" to me. If he had 3-4 more years, maybe I'd be more interested. |

Good coaches can transcend player issues. What happend to that? - MJL
simple question for you....Has Berube done a good job with the club this year?

No, I did not ignore that at all. I've addressed that multiple times, and if you think I've ignored it then you aren't paying attention. You ignored Mason stating that if he had ot go in there, he could do the job. If Mason is on the bench dressed for the game, then he is available to play, and available to the coach to play. Berube is not going to call out Zepp to the press, serves no purpose. |

In other words, like most coaches. But I understand your point.
A coach like Babcock seems to be more a players coach. A guy who can get the most out of his players without making them want to kill him in his sleep. |

I'm far from a Dion expert... Who do we give up to get him? I don't think there's any doubt he'd immediately be our best defender, but is he a #1 dman to build around and give up assets for?
Guess I'm just giving you more questions. |

Case in point, the 2014-15 Wild. Yeo did a great job changing them from a dump/chase team to one of the better teams at holding on to the puck and winning the territorial battle. But his goalies couldn't stop a beach ball and he there was talk about his job being in jeopardy. They pick up Dubnyk, who can stop a beach ball, and off they go. |

I don't think Berube is at fault for how the season has gone. He certainly shares in the culpability, but it's mostly on the players in my opinion. Whether a coach is at fault or not, it is a results oriented business. |

I'd like to see Kirk Muller get another shot as a head coach. He wasnt able to do anything with Carolina in his first go-round... but then, since 2006, who HAS done much of anything in Carolina?

It'd most certainly help. The Flyers have some issues that're just going to take time, though. - BulliesPhan87
No doubt. Unfortunately Hextall can't waive a magic wand and fix everything. Would be nice though. |

I bet if the Flyers keep Berube as coach and add a top defense pairing, it will be off they go! |

How could I ignore something I referenced? That makes no sense.
Still, we're back to the point that Berube inserting Mason into the game was a bad move. And you disagreeing.
"I'd be able to go in there and do the job, but I hope it doesn't come to that," Mason said at the pregame skate. "The game is not there yet. I haven't had a good skate yet because of the schedule."
Mason said he was "obviously caught a little off guard" when Berube signaled for him to jump off the bench. It was more difficult to get into the rhythm of the game since the Maple Leafs planted just nine shots on him.
