He's been in a shutdown role.
I don't know, I like him. He's not Marc-Andre Bergeron with the points, and he's made a few mistakes, but he seems like a good top-4 guy going forward. - CaptainRivet
A Mike Ramsay/Ken Morrow type guy.

It's probably just a personal dislike to either the style of play or something else but i really don't like him at all, hopefully he'll grow on me. Or get traded. |

He's playing the same type of game Myers was.
His style is more suited for it though. |

$$$ could lure him away. I watched him play a few games in a Coyotes uni and was impressed, then his numbers in Minnesota are just plain ridiculous. Hope it's not a fluke. |

Did some backreading.
In 12 games, on this team, Bogosian has 4 points.
How is that offensively inept? - CaptainRivet
Its because he's shorter than Meyers.

Neither of those 3 are gonna end up being a center on any of our top3 lines... So if they wanna play in our top9, they are gonna have to play on the wing.
At some point, I think Hodgson & Grigorenko will get traded
Larsson could for in as a 3rd line winger, but with all the talent we have coming I don't really see us as having a traditional 4th line when we are competing
We could easily see something like
Deslauriers-Larsson-Bailey
That's a lot of talent, tht can play physical, and skate & score
There's gonna be A LOT of competition to get into our top9 in the next couple years
McDavid/Eichel, Reinhart, Girgensons are the 3 centers
Kane, Ennis & Moulson are wingers that seem locked in
So that leaves 3 open spots
Grigorenko, Larsson, Hodgson, Carrier, Baptiste, Bailey, Fasching, Compher, Hurley, Possler, Olofsson, Karabacek...
And I'm probably forgetting a guy or two
We got some great forward depth coming
And that's if we don't bring anyone else in at all - jdfitz77
If the top pick this year, Reinhart, and Girgensons are your top 3 centers (I still think Girgensons would be optimal as a winger), then Larsson would be very effective as a 4th line C assuming the team roles 4 lines which is what they would need to do win and not run down any of their players.
If you believe Murray, Foligno is the 3rd LW, and with that there are only two spots open.
Ennis is better suited to a secondary role as a RW if you expect to be very good and not just good.
That means 2 of the following will be in the top 9, with likely one of them being on the 1st line. Grigorenko, Hodgson, Carrier, Baptiste, Bailey, Fasching, Compher, Hurley, Possler, Olofsson, Karabacek.
I don't know about you or anyone else, but I am not sold on that.
Could one of them turn into a top line talent? Sure. Do you absolutely need a top line RW assuming both E. Kane and the top pick this year are as good as they can be? No.
It's still dicey though.
What they do with Hodgson is going to have a ripple effect on the rest of their plans. If you can turn him, Grigorenko, and a high pick, along with possibly something else, into something of consequence on RW, then you are in business.
On D, I'd sign at least one of Martin or Green, and really, I'd sign both (if they would take a high dollar, 3 year deal), while trying to get rid of Gorges and Weber, so the top 7 D looks like the following next year.
Martin - Bogosian
Pysyk - Green
Ristolainen - Zadorov/McCabe |

Murray wanted Kane so badly that it looks like he was willing to almost put anything in the trade.
That said, you can't win every deal and win every signing.
You don't get what you want every single time. I know some think that is not the case, but it is reality. |

If Kane scored 30 a year and Bogosian ends up being the physical stay at home D then it doesn't matter what Myers does.
To say we downgraded in this trade if it was Myers for Bogosian straight up sbroads you are correct. But that wasn't the trade. If Kane is a 30 goal scorer anything good Bogosian does is icing on the cake. |
