Alrighty here goes nothing. Apparently he hated Myers. I mean hate. Called him a giant wussy. When media asked him about him he said he loved him and didn't want to trade him just to drive up the price. When asked more about the trade he said he didn't trade a 1st for myers. He traded bogosion for myers and a 1st for Kane. Also said Nolan has no idea what he is doing and is canned after the year. He said there was one occasion he walked into Murray's office and asked if he should bench Zadarov for Strachan. Murray just nodded and said do what you feel is best cause he doesn't want to make it feel like Murray is pulling the strings. He said he is happy he is the coach now though because that will bring him McEichel. He knew he was going to sell off Neuvirth three weeks ago and just remained quiet to drive up price but had multiple offers come deadline time. Then he realizes certain players like Hodgson aren't meant to be on the 4th line but since Teddy doesn't know what he is doing it only helps us get top pick so he is happy with it. We also have already spoken to Mike Babcock's agent (no clue how that happens) and he is looking at us, Leafs and reupping at Detroit for next year. Also the reason Lafontaine left was not because of the Miller deal it was because he hired Murray with the assumption he can learn the way to be the GM from Murray and take over in two years which would have been this offseason but no one else thought he should so he quit. Murray said he pleaded his case and won to Pegula. Also said he plans on using his other 1st and prospects to get Ryan O'Reilly in the draft is number one priority because the draft positions will already be done by then. And lastly he has McDavid at a hard #1 and Eichel at #2 because of nationality and skill. Really hates U.S. players. Said there is are only a select few that actually have the complete package and even said Patrick Kane has "warts" he would have preferred a Canadian instead with same skill set but understands the game better. He's all about hockey sense and a player's upbringing and how they handle media attention. If I forgot some it's because I'm still in shock haha |

I was no fan of the the role that nolan and the fans wanted myers to play. Im sorry but to me he's just a better mike weber. - Sabresfan-365
Myers and Bogosian have been/are scoring at a virtually identical pace where it counts - on the "same" roster in Buffalo. |

I suspected pretty much everything you said. Lafontaine just had the wrong idea about many things. I also heard he convinced te Sabres to hire Nolan because he owed Nolan money. Something about leading him into some failed real estate investments. Also I don't like Murray's arbitrary and possibly outdated views on American players. We need a Stanley Cup, not bias.

Maybe he meant American top prospects in the draft since he was comparing McDavid to Eichel and then described the warts Kane had?

I do remember a press conference of his, I believe it was over the summer, when he made the comment that "we have a lot of American prospects", and it wasn't exactly in a beaming tone.
The one thing about "Canadian versus American" players I will say is this: if you look at the National Teams at their best, the Canadians have far more players you would want to build your team around than any other country. It's not that they necessarily have better players. They simply have more of them. I will say that the "Canadian" aspect is one of the reasons I favor McDavid over Eichel. The odds are better if you go with the Canadian, though it's far from a guarantee. |

Now, I have no idea what it's like in Canada, but having grown up around kids that played all sorts of sports, there were a lot of hockey players that had the "immature spoiled rich kid" aura around them. There's no doubt in my mind that it carries up through the ranks, and takes a while to outgrow. |

We have a lot of American prospects because they started looking at them and Euro prospects more the past 2 drafts because you have more time with them. I remember reading it somewhere that they hate the restrictions that are put on them with the guys in the CHL. If they're in the NCAA or in Europe, they have more time to sign them after the draft and can have a bit more of a hand in how they develop. |
