Team defense is the big thing and a big reason goal tending is so good. Teams check as a unit. If you dont play 200 ft, you dont last in the NHL. Goal tending hasn't really improved all that much in 10 years.

Leave the f**king nets alone. So many stupid rule changes in the joke Bettman era leave the bloody game alone and let the players decide what happens on the ice.

If anything they should shrink the nets by 30-40%. Games should have no more than 3 goals combined, anymore and it becomes a clown show

The league is watered down talent wise. So much focus now on having overpaid 4th liners because they have brick hands but can block shots. Take 50-60 players out of the league and I guarantee you see a positive change where skill is actually able to shine. We have the luxury of watching some of these elite talent but more often then not their skills are over shadoweded by trapping, dump/chasing. Im not saying those things arnt important but its not that sells tickets and viewership

Heads would roll. Goalies spend their whole life perfecting butterfly, no way they would choose to adapt to a new net size.

Its the Goalies primarily but shot blocking has a lot to do with it too. This is probly helped by technology of the pads bow.

What Bettman should really focus on is changing the game from 3x 20 minute periods to 4x 15 minute quarters. This way there would be a proper half-time which can attract big name acts such as Bieber
