They do. So does at least one other NHL team. Some months back, when Sanheim was in the midst of a scorching hot streak -- both offensively and defensively -- that lasted about a dozen games, an NHL scout with whom I correspond compared Sanheim to Duncan Keith at the same age. THAT was an eye-opener.

With that said, Sanheim still has a lot of filling out and developing to go, but his rate of improvement from year-to-year over the last two seasons has been very encouraging.

I don't think defenseman should ever go straight to the NHL unless your expected to be selected first or second overall. Seth Jones is a different situation because he was expected to go first or second until the day of the draft. I feel it was a hue mistake to allow Luca Sbisa to go straight to the NHL.

Very eye opening. I think we all heard Ryan McDonald the day of the draft.

Shawn Horcoff having a solid start to this game. I had no idea he was still relevant.

If I recall, his rapid developmental pace was one of the factors in why they chose Sanheim.

Bill, please tell me Cole Bardreau isn't Rinaldo/Car Bomb 2.0. If he is, what is up with these signings? (The loud banging is my head hitting my desk over, and over again)

The Flyers miss the playoffs and both Giroux and Voracek squander an opportunity at the heart trophy. Simmons, at least hit the 30 goal mark.

He's more Harry Z/Stefan Legein... hard-worker, well-liked, lunch pail bottom-six guy (with a bit of talent).

Wait until you know what their own 1st rounder will be to get a better idea of what to look at in mock drafts.

Not what you asked for, but this is the best rankings aggregator, IMO:

If he is, at least they didn't use a 3rd round pick on him.

It's like the gap between Malkin and Sid... it's not that big, but clearly one guy is better most of the time.

This draft is like if Sid and OV were slated to go #1 and #2.

damn i didnt know eichel was expected to have that surefire ceiling.

any other year, im guessing he would be the prize penny at number one
