damn i didnt know eichel was expected to have that surefire ceiling.
any other year, im guessing he would be the prize penny at number one - stayinthefnnet
He's leading the NCAA in scoring as an 18yo by a healthy margin... the next 4 closest guys are all in their 20's. It's pretty crazy. |

if the team picking one picks eichel over mcdavid then, is it justifiable? |

What's interesting to me is the fact Eichel is the bigger player in both height and weight. Not a bad constellation prize. |

I'd say no. If you have the pick you either take McDavid or trade the pick for the biggest haul ever. |

Picking Foppa at 6th overall way back was justifiable, right? Time will tell, but I'd be very surprised if McDavid doesn't go 1 overall.
I wouldn't be too surprised if the first Dman to go isn't until pick 5 though. I think we might see Marner & Strome go after McDavid & Eichel. Provorov may go before Hanifan too. Who knows, but I guess we'll have a better indication as we get closer to the draft. |

It'd be somewhat of an upset, but some teams do like Eichel more |

I would be happy if that's who we ended up with in June. |

Provorov is very impressive, just don't get the chance to watch much of Hanifan but what I have was pretty good. |

After the top two, the waters have become muddied. Before, Hanifin was sure fire bet as the third pick. Now, it could be Strome, Marner, Crouse or even Provorov.
Top ten will net the Flyers a very good pick. I'd like them to use the later pick to grab a talented goal scoring winger, but there's a handful of defensemen that might be there. They need the depth every where, so it's not a big deal either way. I just want good players picked. |

hanifin is the clear cut #3 pick... no debate on that. without mcdavid in draft class noah would clearly go #1. we need to trade up for him |

Not true anymore. A lot of scouts have Strome, Marner and Crouse right there with Hanifin. It's not because of anything Hanifin has done poorly, it's that the other 3 have really stepped up and played great. |

Couple that w/ the Flyers historical penchant for going off the board, and you're left with really zero feel for who they'd go with at either pick.
Like you said, they're going to nab two good players no matter what, and that's the most important thing.

see and the amount of people saying definitively no, makes it hard for m to accept them as a true 1a 1b, crosby or malkin kind of thing.
eichel seems to be a good player and a damn fine prospect, but not anointed as a potential next great one like mcdavid. |

I've been saying it for a week or so, but I keep getting a feeling they're going to go with Barzal or Meier, if they're around 8-10. No idea why I keep coming back to those two, but I think they could be on the radar. |

Both seem like the kinds of players they usually look for... but then again, you could say that about half of the guys slated to go 1st-round this year.
I have my personal faves (Marner, Konecny, Boeser) but I'm not even going to try to guess what the Flyers scouts have planned... we definitely know their rankings usually bear very little resemblance to the consensus. |

LaFleur made Dionne's amazing pre-draft accomplishments look pedestrian with his back to back 100-goal junior seasons... Guy went 1st-overall and his name rings out louder, but Dionne went on to have the better career. You just never know.

True enough. I like the guys you listed, as well as Svechnikov, Greenway, DeBrusk, Bittner and Sprong for that second pick |

Very true. Even last year I don't think a lot of people expected Sanheim to be picked at 17. I think a lot of people including myself were expecting Kapanen or Tuch and they went a little off the board with Sanheim. |
