There are so many examples, I don't even want to know what semantics he will dig up to try to make some bizarre point

This is probably a dumb question, but has a goalie ever worn the C or the A?

As for the Asbee trophy I would give it to Mason as well. You can make a case for Voracek too.

Yup, some of the 2nd, all of the 3rd...and a bunch of commercials in-between.

If you didn't, you should probably leave now. Quietly.

If the Flyers were simply an awful team it would be more understandable. They are not an awful team. They are an inconsistent, flawed and sporadic one in a league of parity with only a couple of true elite teams, a couple of deserved bottom feeders and otherwise minor gaps from the upper-middle class to lower-middle class (which is where the Flyers are). Overall, they've been a good team at home and one that can't buy a win on the road.

I doubt we could have gotten into the Keith Yandle market.

This isn't 1996 and you can't just move players without salary cap repercussions.

- johndewar

the yotes ate half his salary. what salary cap problems are we looking at?

Teams that get outplayed often win games on fluky bounces, missed calls, the powerplay and/or strong goal-tending.

I wouldn't mind the NHL going from 4v4 to 3v3 to decide the game. And I think OT games automatically becoming 3 point affairs is a problem, but I doubt that gets resolved any time soon.

The shootout is a bad way to decide a game, but I'll take that over a tie any day.

- wolfhounds

So you'd rather reward a team that doesn't score a goal as the winner as opposed to just saying that neither team deserved to win? I can't get on board with that.

Ties are the worst thing since whatever was the last worst thing.

I'd rather have entire games of shootouts than ties.

Apparently, breakaways are such an anomaly in hockey, the ref should blow the whistle when they occur in the course of the game because, according to some, breakaways are apparently not part of the game, just a gimmick, and really don't require any hockey skill to execute.

But ties are (frank)ing fantastic. They are as Canadian as free health care, being passive aggressive, and female doging about your neighbor to the South.

So you seriously cannot tell the difference between a breakaway and penalty shot? You're that obtuse?

Mason Wants A Say In the Hiring of New Coach

- wolfhounds

Wants a say in the hiring of a coach. Called out his teammates two games ago. He's playing great but that's a little ballsy for a guy who's career was in shambles a few seasons ago.

Like I said, extend the 4v4 time and/or add 3v3 time. But yes, I much prefer this format to a tie. Why bother playing a game to end in a tie? I can't think of a greater waste of time. But to each their own.

Goalie coach, not head coach.

The article is misleading to drum up this type of response. Here's the original article.

http://www.csnphilly.com/...lyers-goalie-coach-search

A goalie coach serves two functions: He works on technical aspects of his client’s game. During the season, goaltenders see their game go sideways and he brings them back in line.

Yet just as important is he also serves as a confidante. The last resort. Someone to lean on heavily when times are bad.

Which is why Mason hopes to have a voice in the discussion.

“Yeah, obviously, because it’s such an individual position, you want to be comfortable with somebody,” Mason said.

I'd prefer they do the 4v4/3v3 thing as well.

But last night, they could have saved the players a lot of wear and tear and just done a shootout at 8:05 EST and everyone would have gotten home earlier. because that's basically what it boiled down to. No goals were scored, but we need a "winner" and that is apparently the only way to do it.

Could you imagine? Berube went up to Mason after reading the headline..."Hey, uhh, do you know something I don't?"
