The topic was about top players playing at a high level, with good teams and bad teams. Winning a Cup is about the team.
I don't know a single player in the NHL history that has won a cup by himself. So the question doesn't make a lot of sense. - MJL

I think the game is fine the way it is. The extra point gives teams a fighting chance to climb up in the standings. The single points in an undecided tie doesn't, which is why the change was made. It's not a perfect system but you pay closer attention to the standings because of this format. Right now the shootout is apart of the game. If you want to win, improve in all areas of the game. Giroux was once a guarantee in this area of the game. Right now I feel there isn't much of an excuse as to why he's not bringing it at this point of the game. He's our leader. - SuperSchennBros
I think the extra point is more detrimental to climbing up in the standings, then it is beneficial.

What people want is continuous OT. Nobody comes out and admits it but it's the truth. The shootout works, people just don't like it. They like it during the international games but it's not good enough for regular season NHL hockey. I don't think 3 on 3 will solve much more then 4 on 4 will. So what's next? 2 on 2? 1 on 1? All stupid ideas and your just heading in the direction of continuous OT until you find a winner, while wasting everyone's time.
The game is already fast and the appropriate length. - SuperSchennBros
3 on 3 opens up the game is more or less a continuous odd-man rush. I think a 10-minute 3v3 period would resolve 90%+ of games.
Or just got to a (frank)ing tie the way God intended. |

No worries, Hextall is taking over where Holmgren left off in signing FA "Agitators" |

I agree, no one wants to see athletes expending energy.
Let's just go straight to the shootout. What's all this 60 minutes on 5v5 nonsense about? |

@RandyJMiller probably the most inaccurate and irresponsible thing that's been written about the Flyers this season.

Really, it's enough. I used to enjoy Lauren Hart too, but she overdoes the whole thing now. Stop doing the dumb white girl hand gestures while you're singing. Stop making every note last four bars too long. The only thing worse than trotting out the Kate Smith business is when Lauren starts singing along. Cripes its embarrassing.
Also, Lauren Hart: not terribly friendly in real life. - ThirdEye
Lauren is extremely nice. How many times have you met her?

i never posed the question you made a statement about giroux and voraceks effort of late....whats is giroux/voracek supposed to do skate past 5 players every shift....hockey is a game of endurance...when your playing against the top opposition game in and game out your going to get worn down to a nub...when there are no other threats on the team and the opposition only focuses on you then your not going to get much done no matter what level you play at... |

Howie Morenz won the 1924 Stanley Cup by himself.

Umm...I didn't want to believe there was a "Feud" until I had all the facts. So why do I believe there was a feud now that I've read this article? Mason still hasn't missed a game since Toronto and the season is fricken lost now!! |

All top players on teams receive a high level of focus from the opposition on a regular basis. I disagree that a top player can't get much done in the situation the Flyers are in. It's still 5 on 5 hockey.

Not when your at the game for three hours already plus 4 on 4 OT. You do know that during the Winter, sometimes traffic and bad weather already happens and adds to the pain for both entering and leaving. |

A handful. Admittedly it was in somewhat of a retail setting... but she was kind of demanding and not as humble as I'd hoped. Certainly not mean or anything, but not as warm as she seems like she'd be. Most of this is on me for having silly expectations, I'll admit that.
The other folks I met on the job from the organization (except John Leclair) were far more friendly though. Lou Nolan, Ed Hospodar, Jeremy Roenick, hell, even Chris Pronger were far more engaging. |

People are so sour on JR right now. I agree he's wrong about Mason but my opinion of him hasn't changed since before he's made that pretty inaccurate statement. I love JR, I'd be shocked if he turned out to be a douche. Pronger I can see but Roenick prides himself by being a guy who loves the spot light and always trying to sell the sport. |

Yes. Waiting an extra 10 minutes (or less) in that game versus the Predators in a blizzard would have extended my arrival home from 5:30 to 5:45. |

Well maybe if you'd moved your ass and gotten her a fat free latte and a gallon of Turkey Hill triple fudge ice cream like she'd asked, she would have been more engaging. |
