As far as Larsson goes, where does hit fit in long-term?
If Reinhart plays RW on the top line w Kane & Mcdavid, then maybe he & Grigorenko fight it out for 3c behind Girgensons
If Reinhart is our 2c, then I think Larsson will have to fight it out on the wing if he wants a shot at top9 playing time
Should be an interesting offseason, as I could see him as trade bait as well

Ceiling could be pascal dupuis. Or he could end up like hect.

At some point you have to suck it up and say "ok, he put me on the 4th line. He must not think much of me . Well, I'll show him!", and go out and play that next shift, and the one after that, and the one after that like it's 30 seconds to go in the 3rd in game 7 of the Cup finals and you're leading 2-1.

Don't go sulk like a pu$sy in the corner, which is what Grigo seems to do. At some point, you have to WANT IT!

- grand-magus

Watch the end. Does that look like wanting it? That looks like wanting it. Not "Sulking like a Pu$$y". And did he get rewarded? I'll give you a clue. He didn't.

Yo no doubt grigorenko can read a play, take great angles, great puck control and make all the passes. But he might never be athletic enough to add value to any team. Quality of linemates definetly helps with point production. When ur on the ice u have a responsibility to play a position and if u can't handle that then u end up demoted.
- joshs

But, demoted after 2 shifts, T.O.I less then 1 minute. Nolan doesn't pull the crap with anybody else on the team, and many of them take nights, if not weeks off. But, again my only real point was if we are going to trade him in the off season because he is not a Murray guy fine, but let him play to increase his value. But the way management had screwed him around is just deplorable.

He had no business being up the first season but I remember the khl was a threat at that point. Plus at that point we rarely got to draft a player touted like grigorenko was. So I can see darcys pov on how he handled him. For sure come next season it's either trade or play him.

Thanks, You seem like the only other person here who shares the same opinion as me that Grigo has earned a chance to play. They sent him back down to juniors in his first year here, and he excepted that. They told him to beef up in the off season, he excepted and did that. They cut him from the roster in training camp even though he had earned a spot, he except that. And now when they call him up and pull a bait and switch on him with what lines he will be playing on, and after all that mis-management HE is the sulking pu$$y, absolutely ridiculous. I hope Grigo tells the Sabres to go (frank) themselves this off season.

Apparently playing center on the 4th line for the worst team in the league and having wingers like Kaleta, McCormick, Konopka, and conacher should equal Gretzky type numbers.

His 3-4 career goals are pretty impressive (though I do love that one of them was against the leafs)

How about the kid plays hard for 60 minutes? Is that so much to ask for a 20 year old who is supposedly in the best shape he's ever been?

If we were Detroit, nobody would bat a lash at him playing in the minors, but because he was a 1st round pick for the Sabres we should give him the keys to the castle?

2 goals where linemates did all the skating and work. He read the play well. No taking that away from him but his linemates did all the work.

Matt Ellis has scored 2 goals in a game before, too. And they were better looking than the Grigorenko 2 goal game.

Just sayin'.

I wish he never played at 18. It's really delayed what I think can be a pretty good career as a top 6 player.

IMO, it's not flat out laziness as it is him just not being used to having g to constantly move his legs at this level.

And the 2nd of those 2 goals Cody McCormick looked like an allstar comming down the wing. Grigorenko took like 3 strides that entire replay lol.

Playing hard for 60 minutes? That is the problem, they only give him 2 minutes T.O.I. and expect him to work miracles, but they have no problem giving bums like Foligno plenty off ice time even though he has should NO intensity since his first 14 NHl games. you cant expect the kid to show you something if you don't allow him to play in the first place.

That may be a valid point, and I know all kids aren't the same, but no one had to tell Ennis, Girgs, Varone, Gerbe, etc to move their legs.

When they all got the call - and there are many more examples - they played HARD. Skated hard. Competed hard.

No one is asking for miracles.

He does nothing but float around for those two minutes. Why SHOULD he get more than that?

He shouldn't.

How about competing your ass off for those two minutes? Then maybe next period he gets 5 minutes, and so on. But, he doesn't.

First goal he was drifting in front of the net, let the other guys do the work, whiffed on his backhand and whiffed on his own rebound and the puck barely went in.

I'd love to see Grigorenko get a chance and I hope he turns out good but he isn't doing it in the AHL, getting 15+ minutes a night. Why should he be rewarded for being a drifter who excelled in Juniors?

Also, isn't he like, actually 24?

None of those players were handled so poorly from the get go. Treating someone like crap from the get-go rarely works as a motivator.
