Harvin or no Harvin, I never noticed that Stevie Johnson was gone last year. The guy was lighting in a bottle more than anything else. That being said, there's no doubt in my mind that the Patriots can use him effectively. - buffalofan19

Which is probably what they'll get, from a team that's probably already been in the playoffs and looking to take the next step. Our best upgrades are probably going to have to come via trade this summer. If they take a big step forward in 2016 then the possibilities in FA become more realistic. - Sabresfan-365
Agreed. I am curious what they are going to be able to trade to get that kind of defensive help.
To me, what the Islanders did getting Boychuk and Leddy was like catching lightning in a bottle....twice. |

True but IMO that has more to do with our QB play.
Stevie is a good red zone target and we struggled there for the most part.
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have Woods at this point as a #2. |

To me, it is light years better than what you posted. Martin is a massive upgrade over Gorges and Green is an upgrade over any option they currently have on the team for the second pairing.
As you said, if they want 5+ years, no thank you, no way, no how. - kingcong39
That's my point though...
It's better NEXT year, and prob for another year.
But I don't wanna keep Zadorov & McCabe in Rochester for 3+ years either.
Green is suspect in his own end. I like him for a 3rd pair, PP guy...
But is he worth 5mil+ if that's the role u have him in?
As far as Martin vs Georges...
Idk how much better he is. He prob looks better than he is BC he's on Pitt. And Georges looks worse BC he's on Buffalo.
We have Georges under contract for another year, and then Zadorov should be ready to take on his minutes and assignments.
I wouldn't hate if we brought in Martin,
But only if it's 3yrs max

Amendola's problem wasn't his route running or his inability to be used effectively. His problem was staying on the field. When he did play, he was effective. |

I think I agree with that for the most part.
Adding a PP specialist like Green seems like a trade deadline move to make. He's too erratic in his own end for the most part for me to give him consistent top4 minutes. So talented offensively though |

We actually have an abundance of decent forward prospects...
Assuming we've got McDavid/Eichel, Kane, Reinhart, Ennis, Girgesons & Moulson, that's 6 of our top9 going forward.
Leaving 3spots for...
Hodgson, Grigorenko, Larsson, Carrier, Baptiste, Bailey, Fasching, Compher, Hurley, Possler, Karabacek & Olofsson
Whoever Murray doesn't see foiling those roles are gonna be trade bait

For a 3 year period Schaub was over 4000 yards per year. His last season when he turned into a pick 6 machine but really he would be a better option than all 3 QB's the Bills have right now IMO |

Stevie Johnson is a great WR. I can't believe people say he sucks or they hardly noticed him missing. Especially after watching our terrible offense last year. Robert Woods dropped just as many, if not more passes in open field than Stevie did (something he got tons of crap for but was way blown out of proportion because of 1 dropped pass against Pittsburgh in OT in a season where that catch wouldn't have made a difference toward making the playoffs anyway). He was sorely missed, as both a veteran presence for a young receiving corps and as a target for our inept QBs. You can cover Watkins and Woods like peanut butter on the roof of a dog's mouth but you cannot cover Watkins, Woods and Johnson if we keep him last year.
All I hear is how first, EJ, then Orton couldn't hit their receivers when they were "open" yet hear nothing about how the receivers weren't running their routes clean and crisp, something that none of our WRs did on a regular basis last year.
SJ13 is one of the best route runners I have ever seen. He put up 3 straight 1,000 yard seasons with Fitz as his QB and was buried on the depth chart last year with a crap QB throwing him the ball and even then, when that idiot Kaepernick finally started to actually recognize Stevie's breaks and routes more than halfway through the season, he started throwing to him and he became a reliable target.
BTW, he had zero drops last year.
I'm not going to say he will put up ridiculous numbers or torch secondaries or tear it up with Brady throwing to him but I won't be surprised if/when he puts up 1200/yds and 10/tds. Brady hasn't had a receiver as good as Stevie Johnson since Randy Moss left, and no I'm not comparing Johnson to Moss. |

Johnson wouldn't be a bad #2 if Woods wasn't already a good option (and cheaper)
Part of the knock on Stevie was when the game mattered he "dropped the ball". No I don't be dropped passes but costly fumbles and alligator arming a pass.
He is a good WR but by no means is he a number 1 receiver. |

With Stevie last year, this team makes the playoffs. He would have pushed us over the edge. He didn't have to be #1. He could have restructured his deal (he didn't in SF but I don't blame him, I think he would have here). Watkins/Woods would be the go to guy in a crucial situation anyway last year.
And all I remember from Stevie about his follies "when the game mattered" were the dropped pass vs Pittsburgh and the fumble in Toronto. And that happens to everyone. And neither of those plays going the other way pushes us into the playoffs in either of those years.
Thurman Thomas single-handedly lost us a Superbowl because he couldn't hang on to the ball, Jim Kelly in the superbowls threw INTs like it was his job, FFS they're in the HoF and worshipped by Buffalo fans. They couldn't make the play when it mattered.
You need 3 quality receivers or 1 quality QB in order to have an effective offense and with no good TE (Chandler is an average TE), 3 quality WRs should have been on the team last year. |

You lost me right there. In what world would Stevie "push this team into the playoffs"?
The reason this team didn't make the playoffs is QB play and overly high school conservative coaching and play calling. |

And that's why Schaub stinks and can't be a starter, he's failed countless times except as a back up in Green Bay. Stevie is garbage I don't care if people agree with me or not. He can stay gone, he's so great he was invisible with the 49'ers. People think he will light it up with the Pats ? I think not. |
