These are men playing for jobs.
Playing for and fighting for their NHL careers.
I applaud their effort last night not to mention it's always sweet beating Boston no matter what the circumstance is.
Thank God for Mike Robitaille adding some intelligence and levity to a moronic conversation headed by Simon and White while I was driving my daughter to UB this morning otherwise I would have switched back to 94.5 FM.
Clearly Roby and I are on the same page when it comes to this "tanking" thing.
Like he said, if you arrive there, you arrive there (last place).
He'd rather not arrive there smelling badly however and neither would I. (tanking intentionally)
Keep coaching them hard Teddy and keep fighting for your NHL careers guys and let the chips fall where they may. - BuffaloHardHat
There was never any doubt the team wouldn't lose on purpose. Winning games where you get outshot by 20+ shots just does zero good for the team. |

It was supposed to be. They can't even do that right. - buffalofan19
I've said all along that they'll finish 29th and win the lottery. Not panicking yet but after next week... |

For all the "play honorably" crowd, you do realize they got manhandled last night, right? Lindback made 44 saves. That means they faced 45 shots. That's not "winning honorably". That's "winning accidentally". As much as I can't stand him, Jeremy White is correct. This team has been artificially boosted by goaltending for an abnormally long time, and last night was no exception. - buffalofan19
Has nothing to do with my post by the way.
As I have said before, if tanking a season is the only way for your GM to build a winner, you better start looking for a new GM.
But anyway, I am out.
Enjoy your day y'all.

Just wondering.... Exactly how many Franchise Players can a GM obtain via trade or free agency?.... In 40 something years I have seldom seen this happen...... |

Since the 80's or early 90's if you count Messier, none. It doesn't happen. The way you acquire them is to draft them, and right now, the way you draft them is to finish last. |

I also don't think it's fair to pin what the franchise looks like entirely on a GM that's been in his position just over a year. This ship had sunk before Murray was even brought in.
What was he supposed to do? I know I love Buffalo for a lot of reasons, but I can see why a FA would be averse to signing here. Especially when places with a lot more to offer are calling as well. And you can't expect him to be able to trade the crap that's here for anything worth much value.
In order to build a team, you have to do it through the draft. The drafting that's really going to help started 2 years ago. I think regardless of where we end up picking this year, this team is still going to be plenty competitive for years to come. Just watching Risto play last night was kind of a treat. He's really starting to blossom. |

Totally agree Goose but I must say that a defense man will not win you a Stanley Cup.... This team also needs an Identity and that comes with a FRANCHISE PLAYER.... |

I disagree, to a point. But I see what you're saying. You need skilled players at both forward and defense. I think we have the defense part in place already. But even if we don't get one of Eichel or McDavid, this team is still going to be a good team. They'll just be even better with one of the two of them. |

But Goose... Aren't we all just sick of being just a "better team"? Don't we want a HIGHLY competitive team for once? And I mean HIGHLY competitive in every game.... |

Of course I want them to be that highly competitive team. My dream is that they end up like Chicago or LA where they're right there in the Stanley Cup discussions each year. But I'm not going to be mad if they end up at least a perennial playoff team. I want them competitive. I want to be able to cheer for them and not hate them. That's what I want. |

If they don't get 1 of these 2 players, you can forget anything close to the Hawks or Kings. This team will be set back another 4 years if not longer. People that say they aren't worried, should be. |

They're not going to be set back 4 years. This isn't what we're going to see every year for the next 4. Back away from the ledge 89. It's not as bad as you think. |

Your wrong. If we get hanafin instead we are a bottom 3 team next year. Maybe a couple more wins but what's changing from this year to next year? Kane and a another year of our guys developed. That's 10 extra points. Bottom 3 still. The year after? Reinhart as a rookie and a year of development. Let's say we add 10 more points, Bottom 10 team still. 3rd year we add hanafin in lineup and lose kane because our team still sucks and he won't resign, still not a playoff team. 4th year out our guys are in there early prime and we are a perpetual 8th-6th place team. Ya that's the future everyone here really wants I guess. |
