Hackett tonight, Tank On - SABRES 89
Good. I really wish we didn't get that point last night, but at least Edmonton got 2. At least Toronto helped us out some. |

Hackett tonight, Tank On - SABRES 89
Glad to see this, hope it stays that way throughout the day. I had planned on a little rant post about how nolan is leaving no stone unturned in an effort to win meaningless games including how i figured lindtank would start again tonight.
I understand it from nolans perspective and i guess i cant blame him. Its just an unfortunate difference between nolans personality and managements vision for the future.

I just can't see Nolan trying to lose. Or any coach for that matter. You're blacklisted if you do something like that. |

i don't think anyone suspects nolan of trying to lose. many opponents of the suspected tanking going on in buffalo are of the belief that bringing nolan in, and his subsequent firing after this dreadful season (if it happens), was done mainly to maintain the appearance that they are attempting to ice the most competitive team that they can. |

For what it's worth, Hamilton said it could end up being Lindback... I wouldn't be shocked if Lindback started. |

I agree. No coach should be trying to lose. Little moves like playing neuvirth X games in a row and on back to backs, 3 in 4s. Ennis playing the entire 2 mins on a PP. Bogo gettin 28mins a game when he arrived here. Risto gets 28 mins last night. Larsson is hot, 23 mins last night... Leaning on players to squeeze out loser points...
The list is probably much longer but alas.. If nolan felt he had job security going into next season why wouldnt his philosophies fall at least a LITTLE more in line with the overall goal of the organization?

Remember when a select few said Larsson sucked. That was fun. |

Any word on Weber ? He blocked a shot last night and could be swelled today. |

a lot of people said that. All based on a sample of ten games |

Sounds like the same line-up, with Hackett in net. |

I said he didn't impress me at all earlier in the year. That said, I also mentioned that it's pretty much well known info that it takes him time to adjust to the level of play each time he makes the jump and that I was hoping they'd give him a chance to acclimate before I passed actual judgement on him as a player. |

Michael Pachla: Ovie "the King," another tanking team plus Sabres notes from last night
Larsson seems to have finally figured out what he needs to do to not only stick in the NHL, but have an impact in the NHL. And that is, simply play the game that he's always played--be a pest to play against, hard on the puck and get into the dirty areas to score. - Michael Pachla
I'd suggest he figured out to play with Ennis, who deserves a lot (certainly not all) of the credit for how that line's clicking right now. It makes me look forward to getting one of our young centers on a line with him, he's really turning into one of those "straw that stirs the drink" kind of players. |

It's interesting to me that Enroth played well here and went to Dallas and looks very much sub par. On the other hand, Lindback looked very sub par in Dallas, comes here and has a .924 sv %. What seems to be the common denominator here? - HonkFortheGoose
Our Zamboni driver does a better job of messing up the ice. |

I feel everyone jumped in on the tanking and didn't give fair credit to the best line of the blog.
"Sabres captain Brian Gionta had another breakaway last night. He didn't score. Again. Must be channeling former Sabre, Mike Grier."
Made me chuckle - adambuffalo
Probably everyone here is too young to remember Don Luce, aka "The Breakaway Kid". He always got the breakaways but never scored.

Yeah, but I still think AZ is the larger threat to us. They could not even score a single goal last night to keep pace with us.

Did you watch that game? LAK were very impressive, constant suffocating pressure and a real heavy game. Combined with Quick in goal and it was no wonder they were shutout. I don't think AZ had much of a chance. |

No - did not watch it. Unfortunately, I went to the BUF/NYR game on Saturday. That kind of killed my interest in watching hockey for awhile. |

and now we have some that have swung to the other end of the pendulum based upon a sample of about 4 games.. where is the middle ground |

Agreed on ennis. He has become a very good hockey player despite the tire fire over the last few years.
Seems to me that you can stick just about anyone on a line with him and they will produce. Im glad for larsson looking the part right now, but he is not a top line player, and very doubtful on the second line down the road. A natural center of which we are bordering on too many, if he continues to succeed i can see him as part of a package/sweetener to land a winger.
