70% of games didn't require the shootout with longer OT.

Maybe they think 30% of games resulting in the shootout is still too much?

I want to see a 3 on 2 if there's a penalty, instead of adding a guy on the other side.

That's why it's dumb. 3 on 3 is the minimum number of skaters per team, so penalties change the entire concept of 3 on 3.

It was 78% ending before a shootout. And that's all well and good, but as Howard pointed out, when penalties enter the mix, it's no longer 3 on 3.

Just shows how (frank)ed up the NHL is...it gives us the shootout, but then finds a way to limit the number of times it decides a game...

3-on-3 is even dumber than the shootout. And what's so terribly wrong with a tie that we have to have half-baked ideas to eliminate them?

If ties MUST be eliminated, then:
- 60 minute game, followed by a 3 or 5 player shootout.
- if the NHL wants 4-on-4 to open up the ice, change the rules so that penalties DON'T offset...
- Playoffs continue as is...

Yep. But it doesn't solve the whole problem with 3-point games. If losing in extra time is treated as "better" than losing in regulation, why is winning in regulation treated the same as winning in extra time?

Just have 3 pts available for every game. If the game goes past 60 minutes, award 2 to the winner and 1 to the loser.

Uhmuricans complained about ties. They can't wrap their minds around the idea that a game ended without a winner.

Baseball has no ties. Basketball has no ties. Have you seen them trip poop when there's a tie in the NFL?
