And the guy he fought twice both times went to the ground trying to drag Prust with him.
Gay conspiracy! - l3ig_l2ecl
Can't believe that Player #15 clearly instigated the second fight with Prust, got 2 shots in before Prust dropped his gloves, and didn't get an extra 2 for instigating. |

Not my point.
My point, is, for some unexplainable reason, it seems that no matter what Eller does, it always ends up blowing up in his face. - Pecafan Fan

If the ref lets them fight then it's over and done with.
It's part of the game, like it or not. |

NYR look scary right now; curious if Lundqvist comes back and they lose that hot streak though. - nords21
I can't imagine that having an impact on how they play. Rask would have to be outstanding to pull it off but I don't think its neccessarily a slam dunk for the Rangers however. |

In all cases in which an attacking player initiates intentional
or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, whether or not the goalkeeper
is inside or outside the goal crease, and whether or not a goal is
scored, the attacking player will receive a penalty (minor or major, as
the Referee deems appropriate).
That's in the rule book. So, the right call was made. - Pecafan Fan
However, there also should have been 2 for boarding. Clearly hit the numbers from behind with plenty of time to avoid contacting a vulnerable player |

Aren't we alll over-analysing way too much hockey replays nowadays? All I see is an NHL goalie making a quick decision on a quick sport play, an opponent making another quick decision resulting in a deserved penalty. End of story.

Should a goalie be "fair play" when he comes out of his crease ? - WaterBoy
Not in my opinion. Yes they are huge and have huge protection, but being on the receiving end of a good, clean hockey check is still dangerous for a goalie in my opinion. It's not all about equipment, more about technique. It's harder to stay on your feet with goalie gear vs. forward/defenseman
in my opinion |

I am of two minds on this:
1. If you hit a goalie who is in the process of trying to return to his crease, that should be a penalty.
2. If you hit a goalie simultaneously to the puck arriving, that should be seen as attempting to make a play, and not a penalty (obviously, so long as you aren't boarding him, or something similar in a clear attempt to knock him over instead of coming away with the puck). What Prust did last night would still be a penalty in this type of situation.
