"Bottom line is we are all but guaranteed a lottery pick. There were no good FAs out there, but the lack of trades ensures bottom 5 for sure. Even with the east and our division getting worse, its the same central core with less depth (didnt think it possible). Im not a pessimist, just a realist"

"So, being a realist, you think that a team that missed the playoffs because of poor defensive play, lack of passion, and losing their #1 goalie to injury, that has now improved their defense, and added guys who play with lots of energy, is going to be worse than they where last year(3rd best in the east prior to losing Bernier)- to the point where they are guaranteed a lottery pick.

Headline on top of Toronto Star website: "Breaking News - Toronto Maple Leafs Officially Eliminated from Playoffs"
- fifty__missions
You know that pang you felt in your gut in years passed when the Leafs were officially eliminated, even though you knew for weeks they weren't going to make it?
I'm not feeling that anymore. It will be a relief to know that the playoffs aren't even a goal to start next season. Big picture stuff seems to finally make an appearance in Toronto.

I think Winnik Santorelli and Komarov are energy players...... too bad the core still sucked... - jribout
There were a lot of people absolutely convinced the only problem with this team was a weak bottom six but at the end of the day they found out, you need a top-six that has the heart of bottom six players.

I don't think it was intentional, you see him immediately trying to help the guy... but you've gotta be in control at all times... he still KOed the guy with a hit to the head, even if he didn't mean to. And it's not like he suddenly put himself in a vulnerable position, and Kadri didn't have time to react... he just was being careless/not paying attention. - Feeling Glucky?
please differentiate between the kadri hit and ovechkin hitting komagod in the back of the head

Well said.
I was thinking the bottom 6 was pretty decent the year before as well, but this year they were solid
