As per Panotch's article quoting Mason:

“The knee just hasn’t had the opportunity to completely heal itself. We’ve been playing every other day..."

"That time we played back-to-back

- 77rams[Boston] and in New Jersey, I didn’t have a good game. Also, the knee didn’t feel 100 percent. It’s always good to have the last day and half to recharge."

"It’s just the feeling it’s not 100 percent inside it.”

OK. I'm really confused.

Wait until the end of the season when they tell everyone Giroux's been playing with a torn labrum and Voracek's had a concussion since December that they thought was a minor case of vertigo.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Giroux turns out to have some nagging ailment.

He had to have two surgically repaired wrists one season and didn't he end up in a walking boot two season ago?

The Flyers are crazy. If there was just one thing I could change about our team it would be that. Truly.

I would be very surprised if we don't hear Giroux was playing hurt for a stretch. Right now, I'd be resting Mason, Giroux, Voracek...anyone with anything nagging as much as possible, but especially the cornerstone trio

Absolutely, this old school, "play if you can walk" attitude needs to go the way of the dodo.

It's my understanding that Mason had part of his meniscus removed from his knee arthroscopically. How can a knee that is missing part of that cartilage ever be 100% again?

It's 100% of the new 90%

It's also about swelling etc. It's the residuals from having surgery that may be the issue more than the reason fr the surgery itself.

Or, maybe he is at one of those points where the injury cannot get worse so he pays through it, even though it hurts all the time.

Need one of those magic wands they use in Star Trek, just wave it over the knee, and it's as good as new.
