Personally i'd rather an elite offence as it is more exciting to watch. However, adding Hanifin to our defence brings them much closer to being an elite group than adding Marner to our offence does. That's where my thinking is at right now. - Sabresfan-365
Our defense with Hanifin would be pretty amazing
He's on the same level with Ekblad & Seth Jones
All these ppl that think defense shouldn't be drafted high are crazy
Florida isn't regretting their decision one bit, and Nashville was very happy Jones fell to them. He's a big part of how good they are right now.
Marner is compared to Pat Kane, although it's doubtful he'll reach that level
Strome would also be in the mix if we missed out on a top2 pick.
I'd probably go with Hanifin,
But I wouldn't be upset if we took a forward
Hopefully that's not a choice we will have to worry about

We're in 30th place because of nolan, not sure another coach would have us in a worse spot. |

if nolan would go with a rotating door in goal i think we would be better off.. letting Lindback and others get into a groove makes their play better.. alternating games would make that harder thus making us worse...
send larsson down instead of Chad.. do it murray that wouldn't look obvious |

Sounds about right, anything but 30th is a complete failure at this point. I'm not a bridge jumper but it would just be dumb.

People were screaming for nuevirth, then for Lindback, and now dying for Hackett. People are getting what they want, and still complaining. It's hockey, the worse team doesn't always loose. |

It's crazy, from conspiracy nuts yesterday, to people saying the sabres are only in 30th place because of nolan, and that we need a worse coach. |

tankarenko
put him on the top line and drop all the other centers down a notch...have the team play a wide-open, lindy ruff style of game...with odd-man rushes headed lindback's way and a defense that features one each of weber, meszaros and benoit on a pairing, we just might see that .875 sv% again

But if he is better than Schaller, people will complain he is too good. |

“We’re giving full effort,” said Phil Kessel a day after the Leafs were chased off the ice by the San Jose Sharks. “Obviously, it hasn’t been great, but no one’s not trying, so if you’re saying that, you’re lost.”

Weber has actually been pretty good this year IMO
Regardless, I doubt Lindback can keep us this pace. He's been an utter failure everywhere he's gone since Nashville. I'm not too worried. We just can't beat Arizona twice. If we do that, then things could get dicey. |

They are tougher to predict than forwards and take longer to make an impact.

i'm with ya on weber, fitz...thoughts of him on the top-pairing is pretty scary though...
imo, Nolan needs an excuse to bench lindback...opening things up might be enough to give the goalie dallas flashbacks |

Sure, but if Weber is still around when we have McCabe, Pysyk, etc all here playing he'll be a 6-7 type guy. I'm ok with that.
Doubt Nolan will "open it up" though. He knows we can't compete with teams in terms of talent if we do that.
We'll keep most game close BC of effort, but I doubt we win more than 2, maybe 3 games the rest of the year.
We just gotta hope those wins aren't against Arizona

That's just not true
Ekblad vs Reinhart
Jones vs Drouin
And with this next draft, Hanifin will make the NhL and be productive before BOTH Strome and Marner
If you're talking about defensemen picked further down, then I'd agree with u. But these guys that are studs coming out are producing right away.

The biggest mistake I made was going full tank last month. Life was so much better and less stressful when I let the games play out without getting emotionally involved.
Picking 3rd would only be terrible because of what we were banking on. But I think we can make a trade with that pick and get a top line young forward back. But even if we keep the pick we'll have 2 top 3 players in back to back years and possibly the top center and dman of their respective draft classes. When this all started two years ago the goal wasn't to get mcdavid. It was to pick high one or two seasons. I understand the drop off from Eichel to 3rd but we also can't act like we aren't possibly picking elite players. |

Hasek, Peca and Ward made the Sabres the hardest working team in the day, not chief whopamo
