So what do they do with VL in the off season? Clearly they don't want or need him and I'd say he feels the same. Glad to see some AHL guys getting a look. Really haven't watched much since 2 weekends ago when their season ended.

Skill factor is a concern moving forward.
I think we can get by with Couturier's offensive development, if we had another scoring winger.

- puckhead17

I'm in the Couturier as a 3rd liner camp. i think people like to use the wingers as an excuse, but I just haven't seen enough skill and offensive IQ from him.

I think with some of the centers at the top of the draft, and some of the wingers that are slotting in the 15-22 range (Tampa pick), I'd go center.

Here are the 6 players I really want, in order. I'd try to trade up to get Strome or Marner, and would give up Schenn or Laughton if need be. My big fear is that we don't end up with any of these guys

McDavid
Eichel
Strome
Marner
Hanifin
Provorov

Next group, in order:
Barzal
Werenski
Connor
Rantanen

I am still not sold on Crouse or Zacha. Their level of production worries me for a top 10 pick. Button has Zacha falling to the bottom of the 1st round. I'd definitely take him with the Tampa pick.

With Tampa pick, assuming others like Rantanen or Merkley go before Tampa pick is up:

Zacha
Sprong
Bittner
Beauvillier

Lots of Centers are going to go early in this draft. Good chance Coots is our 3rd line Center in a few years if we nab one of these guys.
- hereticpride

Sorry, just back read and completely agree. Hey, if you have him as your 3rd line guy with decent wingers, that's pretty ok.

I am driving 3 hours to see the game tonight. 3rd row behind the Oilers net. I have made the drive 6 times to watch the Flyers play in Edmonton. They have never won when I have gone. Sorry everybody.

Does anyone know what time the morning skate usually is? Leaving early in hopes of maybe adding a few more signatures to my Flyers jersey.

- Ace Manly

Where you driving from I will be at the game today too, Last year you must have missed the game as Philly won in a shootout, Bryz was in net last year for the Oilers!

Man, I think I might be more shocked to see Vinny traded than I would be if we won the draft lottery.

You could eat 75% of the cap hit and I think it would still be hard to find a taker.

Maybe Tampa would do him a solid and take him back if we eat max money, he plays for one more year there then retires. Still, Stevie Y really doesnt have much of a reason to stick his neck out for Vinny like that.

TOR close to getting Penn State UFA Casey Bailey. Bailey was looking for 2-yr entry level deal, 1st year gets burned now. Should get done.

Any team signing Bailey had to agree to burn 1st yr of contract now, Bailey immediately going to NHL club and playing games this season.

I understand why the player and agent want this done, but I hate that part of these types of signings.

Maybe it's something NHL owners look at changing in the next CBA.

Can see the NHLPA fighting for that one to stay in place.

Manny Malhotra! Carolina never traded him at the deadline last season and he signed with Montreal this summer. When healthy, the ideal fourth line center. I wanted him all year last year.

I get waiting to come into the NHL and get games asap but man, if its the Leafs you have to rethink that strategy.

We're not a good team and Vinny hasn't been give much opportunity here. I don't think he retires until he proves to be that bad with another team.

I honestly just don't think there's a team out there that wants him, at any cost.

Money's locked in, so only thing teams can compete over are perks. Hard to blame players/agents for going after them, in addition to the usual stuff like location/teammates/chance to win.
