I just thik if they resign white. You also have guys like Straka, Cousins, Leirer, laughton, Bellemare plus maybe possible draft picks. I just don't see a spot for him.
Also you still have Umberger and Vinny still until something with them happens. |

I don't think it makes sense to do a buyout this summer when the Flyers will have no trouble getting under the ~$71m cap. - Feanor

Exactly... Yes it sucks, but now that its happening, forget winning and losing. Play guys like Manning, Cousins more. Gets Couts into a different role. See what guys can do with "the pressure off" and in different situations. - jak521

Just a question
If you have decide between resigning White of Vandevelde, who would you pick? I think this might be something they do next season.
My pick would be White. - J35Bacher
That's a tough one.
I'm going to abstain from this one |

I just hope we can reap the rewards of a terrible season in this draft and that Hexy miraculously turns the team around in one year. Wishful thinking?
When is the draft lottery? Does anyone know? It's the next thing I'm looking forward to. - funmaster18
I hope so too because playoff hockey is the best and nothing is better than having a horse in the race. I don't know when the lottery is either, but that's what I'm looking forward to as well. Its the only thing we have a remote chance at winning this season. |

My personal feelings - I think White has rendered Rinaldo expendable. He does everything Rinaldo does (hustles, hits, fights) only smarter and with some offense. He knows where the line is, and he hasn't really crossed it yet. |

I'm going to sleep. Someone wake me up at the draft.
I'll be dreaming of Provorov, Marner or Rantanen with our pick and Bittner with Tampa's. |

Straka and Leier need another season in the AHL. The spot on the Flyers White should be taking is Rinaldo's.

Win lotto, trade with Buffalo. Draft Eichel and have them fork over Kane and Bogo. We'll throw in the Schenns if need be. |

From Brooks' article -- an important stipulation left off on previous link's article:
If he sits for a year -- he'd just need the Devils consent to return.
I don't think Uncle Lou will forgive and forget that easily. - Moose_15
Lou wanted him to leave as well. NJ wanted to save that money due to the financial struggles of the team. Lou has no hard feeling about what happened. |

hard to believe they have missed the playoffs so many times in the last few years and they have been wildly inconsistent. Different teams, coaches, GMs. I just hope Hextall is the guy to finally move the team forward. This offseason will tell us a lot about the possibility of him succeeding. |

I'd much rather trade him while retaining ~$1.4m than buy him out. If that's not possible this summer, it may be in 2016 when his contract will only have two years and $5.5m in salary left.
I think he's pretty much shot as a player but it's not impossible that he rebounds into a half-decent guy with Berube gone. Stranger things have happened. |

Vancouver did it last year. They played terribly last year, now they're in the playoff hunt. They made 3 big moves. Moving kesler, adding vrbata, and a coaching change. Maybe that's all it takes for us this offseason? Maybe our Kesler move is getting rid of vinny? Maybe we add a solid winger (Beleskey, Stewart, Fehr, etc). I think at this point it's looking like they can berube. Obviously it doesn't have to go exactly by this template but who knows. Like I said, Vancouver did it last year, why can't we be next season's Vancouver?

I honestly wouldn't mind another bad year if there were signs that this team was headed in a particular direction and that Hextall was making the necessary moves. Not ideal, but if there are growing pains, so be it. What I can't do is watch this same roster, coached by the same coach again. I just can't. |

Steve Mason raised his SV% from .899 in12-13 to .925 in 14-15. Hands up who predicted that?
But even if Vinny is the same next year as this year I'd still rather keep him. |

I disagree. If a new coach doesn't want him, you can't keep him. You buy him out and you deal with the cap ramifications. Buyout umberger too if that's what the new coach wants. It's not the worst thing in the world of the flyers cap ceiling is essentially 66 million. Lots of young players on entry deals coming. They have to ice the best lineup and play the guys that are pieces for the future |

Mason was a young goalie on a bad team. I think it takes much more optimistic thinking that VLC, in the twilight of his career, rebounds and has a good season. Won't say never, because you can always be proven wrong, but I think it's a long shot. |

Obviously trading him while retaining dollars is better.
Maybe there's a coach who can find a slot for him, make him productive and then increase his value. But I just think he's frustrated and ready to move on and I'm not sure anyone else is interested. |
